Children’s and Youth Scientific University: offline classes of the «Carousel of Directions» group
During May, students in grades 6-7 attended a series of offline classes of the «Carousel of Directions» group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
At the class «Renewable Energy Sources and Intelligent Technologies in Energy», students discussed the prospects for the development and use of solar and wind energy, and tried to generate electricity using a wind generator and solar panels provided by the partner NGO «Molod Online» (molod.online). Working with the «Smart Home» system, students placed the necessary sensors and developed algorithms for their operation to ensure safety and save energy. The children demonstrated remarkable knowledge in this area!
In the «Exploring the World of Automotive Technologies» class, students worked at four locations. At the first, they examined and learned to draw the contours of cars and trucks, a bus, the location of the engine, and the gearbox. At the second location, using a Stirling engine model, they studied the principle of forming pushing movements in engines, the possibility of their support and transmission to a rotating shaft. At the third location, students got acquainted with Tavria passenger cars with left and right steering wheels, and with models of the transmission and chassis of the car. At the fourth location, they studied the construction of individual parts of a modern engine, completed a practical task to connect them based on similarity of shape, size, and mutual position, and learned how to form integral objects.
We are grateful to the director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University, Olena Nazarova, for organizing the classes; for initiative and creative approach to the teachers of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University Vadym Kubich, Olha Dudarenko, Oleksandr Shram, Kateryna Bratkovska, head of the laboratory Anatolii Avramenko and all the children for active participation and interest.
We look forward to the next meetings!
