Children’s and Youth Scientific University. Circle «Carousel of Directions»
Every Saturday, students in grades 6-7 attend classes of the circle «Carousel of Directions» of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic», get acquainted with modern professions, the latest scientific and practical developments.
The exciting lesson «What are heat engines and how do they work?» was dedicated to the study and understanding of heat engines – the wonderful world of technology and science! Together with the senior lecturer of the Department of Automobiles, Heat Engines and Hybrid Power Plants Nataliia Ryaboshapka, the children went on a journey through the world of heat engines. During the lesson, children:
- learned about different types of engines, found out how each type of engine works and what it is used for
- examined how the process of converting thermal energy into mechanical energy occurs in different types of heat engines
- discussed new technologies and innovative approaches in the field of heat engines, including electric and hybrid systems
Such lessons stimulate students to think creatively and imaginatively, to look for new ways to use thermal energy to solve real problems.
The students of the group met a scientist with many years of experience working with children, the chief researcher of the Donetsk Institute of Physics and Technology of the NAS of Ukraine, Professor Yan Yukhymovych Beygelzimer, who demonstrated simple and interesting methods for conducting scientific experiments in physics using the work of students he worked with at the Small Academy science.
Mathematical and physical models are the key to understanding artificial turbulence, water craters, and networks woven from cracks. In this exciting lesson, students revealed the secrets of these phenomena, unraveled their patterns, and learned how mathematics and physics help us understand the world around us.
In childhood, it is very important to realize that scientific activity begins with the simple, as well as that science is based on observations and experiments.
