Detective encryption in the «Carousel of Directions»
On November 25, students of the «Carousel of Directions» club of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University continued their training in cybersecurity from Cardiff University (Wales, Great Britain).
The topic of today’s lesson was «Cryptography». The students became real detectives and enthusiastically revealed encrypted secrets, encoded and decoded secret information, investigated the strengths and weaknesses of the Caesar cipher in modern cryptography, and learned some interesting facts from the life of Gaius Julius Caesar. The children also had the opportunity to practice reading and translating decrypted messages in English.
The children liked the tasks prepared by Iryna Bernyk, a postgraduate student in cybersecurity at the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University, and they competed to solve them.
Among the most active students were Bohdan Rusyak, Saveliy Yashin, Kyrylo Voskoboynik, Vyacheslav Shcherbakov, Vladyslav Khudoly, Mykhailo Shapar, and Mariia Samchenko. It is worth noting that while solving the tasks, Ivan Udovtsev demonstrated a high level of English proficiency.
International cooperation between Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic and Cardiff University helps students experience the prospects of combining solid professional knowledge and English.

On November 25, 2023 young students of the «Carousel of Directions» at the Children and Youth Scientific Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University continued their Cybersecurity course from Cardiff University (Wales, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
The topic of today’s class was «Cryptography». The students became real detectives and were delighted to unveil encrypted secrets, encode and decode secret information, explore the strengths and weaknesses of the Caesar cipher in modern cryptography, and learn some interesting facts from the life of Gaius Julius Caesar. Young researchers also had the opportunity to practice reading and translating deciphered messages into English.
The students liked the tasks prepared by Iryna Bernyk, PhD student in Cybersecurity, School of Computer Science and Informatics, Cardiff University, and they competed solving them with excitement.
