Environment Day at the Children’s Railway

This year, the long months of cold have only recently been replaced by pleasant warmth, so the earth especially needed cleansing to awaken. And now this time has come.

On April 20, all of Ukraine celebrated Environment Day. Thousands of people took to the streets, parks, and coastal areas to put them in order and make them cleaner. Zaporizhzhia also took part in this nationwide campaign «Let’s Make Ukraine Clean!».

A Saturday work day as part of the campaign was also held at the Zaporizhzhia Children’s Railway, in which students from ZNTU and other universities of the city took part, who appeared at the entrance to the railway from the very morning with working enthusiasm and a sense of good mood. And they did not miss a beat. Greetings from the administration of the Children’s Railway, the heads of the regional administration, the regional council, the city of Zaporizhzhia and the regional youth council, and the chairman of the council of rectors significantly raised the general mood of those present.

After all the welcoming words and speeches, all participants of the subbotnik received equipment and began cleaning the provided territory. The boys dug holes near the trees, and the girls removed garbage. Despite the heat, the students did their job conscientiously, so cleaning the territory of the railway did not take much time.

After the cleaning was completed and the equipment was handed over, the students received a reward for their efforts – field porridge and tea, and also had the opportunity to walk around the zoo and terrarium, and ride a train. However, the main reward for the participants of the subbotnik and everyone who came there that day was the incredible cleanliness of the entire railway territory.

The subbotnik helped all its participants not only make the city cleaner, but also from now on to treat the appearance of our city more responsibly. After all, cleanliness is not where they clean, but where they do not litter.
