Donor Day at ZNTU
As in every healthy, humane society, so in ours, human life – is the most valuable phenomenon that can exist at all. Therefore, preserving it and supporting it at any cost – is our sacred duty. Fortunately, there are enough methods to solve this issue, but let’s recall the most common and well-known, which is within the power of almost everyone. This is donation, and specifically donating blood for those who need it.
On April 11 and 12, 2013, the administration and trade union committee of students, graduate students and doctoral candidates of ZNTU held «Donor Day». This event for «Mashynka» has long become traditional, and is held twice a year. As part of «Donor Day» all interested students who have reached the age of 18, postgraduate students, doctoral students and university employees had the opportunity to donate blood for those in need. Blood collection was carried out directly at the university by a visiting team of the municipal institution «Zaporizhzhia Regional Blood Transfusion Station».
Among the participants of the event, one could see a large number of people who care… And it is very pleasant to observe that with each «Donor Day» held, their number increases. The results are truly impressive – within two days, 270 students and 5 university employees donated blood. It is very good that our university never remains indifferent to the problems of society and its well-being and is always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Mutual support and mutual assistance – the basis of a happy life for the entire state, and we, as citizens and patriots, must understand this!
The organizers had the task not only of preparing and holding such a large-scale event, but also of promoting a healthy lifestyle among student youth and motivating them to donate blood.
A donor saves the lives of complete strangers – children and adults – just by donating a little of their blood. Selflessly providing invaluable assistance in a difficult moment – sharing your own blood – is an act that will never be forgotten by patients, their relatives and loved ones. We are proud of our students, observing their sincere, genuine desire to provide assistance and demonstrate their civic duty. Participation in the donor movement of our university – is a small feat, along with the feat of everyone who donates their precious blood to save another life.
The organizers of the event express their immense gratitude to everyone who did not stay away and took part in the action! A huge thank you to those who bear the proud title of Donor, because perhaps tomorrow you will become the creator of a real miracle, giving a new life!
