November 22 — Holodomor Memorial Day
Every year on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933, as well as the massive artificial famines of 1921-1923 and 1946-1947. In 2025, the Memorial Day of Holodomor victims falls on November 22.
The terror of hunger, which continued in Ukraine, took the lives of millions of our compatriots. According to various estimates, up to ten million people died from artificial starvation. Today, more than thirty countries of the world have recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
This year, for the fourth time, we honor the victims of the communist genocide in the conditions of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The tragic events of today only emphasize how important it is to preserve historical memory. After all, those who commit crimes against humanity should be condemned, and the victims should be properly honored.
Our duty is to remember, remember and tell the world the truth about the terrible crime committed against the Ukrainian people.
Let the warmth of millions of candles warm the souls of those who died during the terrible years of famine.
Eternal and bright memory to all victims of the Holodomor – adults and children, innocent victims of the totalitarian regime.
