International research and exchange of best practices in sustainable development: results for 2025
In 2025, the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, as part of the international Erasmus+ ISDEGO consortium, participated in cooperation aimed at studying, comparing and disseminating European approaches to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 11 «Sustainable development of cities and communities» in transport education.
The joint activities of the partner universities included comparative studies of educational programs, analysis of international strategic documents, study of innovative teaching methods, and development of recommendations for adapting European experience to the needs of universities in Ukraine and Moldova.
1. Comparative analysis of international approaches to transport education
Within the framework of the WP2 work package, the international consortium conducted a comprehensive analysis of bachelor’s degree programs in the transport field, international strategic and educational documents, current trends in the development of the transport industry, and prospective requirements for graduate competencies.
The study included a review of 28 international documents, an evaluation of educational programs, and consultations with stakeholders, including during regional workshops held in April 2025.
Based on the comparative analysis, recommendations were developed for the modernization of transport education, the integration of sustainable development competencies, digital technologies and innovative teaching methods. The recommendations developed take into account international experience and the needs of training specialists for the sustainable development of transport systems.
2. Study and generalization of best European practices
In November 2025, teachers from universities in Ukraine and Moldova participated in international training at European higher education institutions within the framework of the WP5 work package.
The program aimed to study European experience in integrating SDG 11 into undergraduate educational programs, in particular approaches to sustainable urban mobility, environmentally friendly transport, digitalization of transport systems, and innovative teaching methods.
Based on the results of the international training, a joint report was prepared, which presents the practices of European universities and recommendations of the participants on the possibilities of their use to improve the educational process in Ukraine and Moldova.
Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University together with Transylvania University of Brasov (Romania) acted as a responsible partner for the preparation of this project result.
3. Comparison of European approaches to the implementation of microqualifications
Within the framework of the WP4 work package, ISDEGO partners explored European and national approaches to the implementation of micro-credentials as a tool for the development of professional competencies and the formation of flexible educational trajectories.
The result of this work was a concept for the development of microqualifications taking into account European recommendations and the specifics of the higher education systems of Ukraine and Moldova.
On October 21, 2025, the results of the study were presented during the international seminar «Micro-Credentials in Technical Higher Education: European Practices, National Challenges, and Pathways for Ukraine and Moldova. Application of Micro-Credentials in Transport and Logistics».

The significance of the results of international cooperation
International cooperation within ISDEGO ensures the exchange of experience between European, Ukrainian and Moldovan universities, the comparison of educational approaches and the joint development of recommendations for the integration of sustainable development principles into transport education.
The results of 2025 form a scientific and methodological basis for further improvement of educational programs, development of professional competencies and use of international experience in training specialists for sustainable development of cities and transport systems.
The participation of NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» in this activity contributes to the development of international academic partnership and the dissemination of practices for implementing SDG 11 in the educational environment.
