A safe space for children of the Dniprorudnenskaya community to study at Zaporizhia Polytechnic University

A safe space for children from the Dniprodzerzhynsk community was set up on the basis of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University. The project was implemented with the support of the Ukrainian non-profit organization in Japan “Japanese-Ukrainian Friendship Association “Krayany”” and the municipality of Bad Oldesloe (Germany), where local entrepreneurs and municipal authorities joined the fundraising. After the occupation of 70% of the Zaporizhzhia region, the Dniprodzerzhynsk community and dozens of others were relocated to Zaporizhzhia. In particular, educational institutions that had been teaching children online for almost 4 years were relocated. IDP children were unable to attend offline classes without changing schools. This leads to the decline of the educational sphere of the occupied communities and increases the level of stress in children. In the 2025/2026 academic year, unoccupied communities have the opportunity to introduce blended learning. The key problem for the Dniprorudnenskaya community was the lack of opportunities for offline classes in Zaporizhia. Thanks to the implementation of the project, students will now be able to attend classes in a comfortable and equipped room. The Talant School will be able to further implement innovative educational projects and practices in its activities, which will bring the level of education of the community to a higher level. Thank you to everyone who helped with the implementation! Zaporizhia Polytechnic is always a reliable support and support! Working together - developing together!

Academic mobility to Belgium

Within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ KA107 program, as well as within the framework of the inter-institutional agreement concluded between the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium) and the Zaporizhia Polytechnic University, there are opportunities for academic mobility of higher education students and teachers. From October 15 to December 13, Natalia Mironova, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Media, participated in the academic mobility program. The academic internship was conducted under the scientific supervision of Professor Peter Arras and Professor Wouter Sas (KU Leuven). The purpose of the mobility was to work on the functionality and limitations of the Magician Go mobile platform. This educational robot is actively used in STEM projects, but its standard software has limited access to control settings. Therefore, it was necessary to develop a custom driver that provides direct control of the platform without using proprietary software. For this purpose, an analysis of available open materials was conducted and the data exchange protocol was reverse-engineered. The result was the Magician Go control software, which opens up new opportunities for educational and research projects. The experience gained is already being integrated into the educational process during the teaching of the educational components "Robot Control Systems" and "Programming of Robotic Systems", as well as the coordination of areas of joint scientific work between representatives of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University and KU Leuven. JurLab: How Artificial Intelligence is Changing Legal Education

Half a year ago, the JurLab educational AI-bot was introduced into the education of students at the Faculty of Law of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic University. Initially, the bot functioned as a simulator of legal situations, where students acted out role models of a prosecutor, lawyer, investigator or human rights defender, analyzed ethical dilemmas and made decisions. But in half a year, JurLab evolved into a full-fledged educational tool with its own "legal core". Thanks to the introduction of API integrations, the bot gained access to key international legal sources: - HUDOC API - the base of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights - OHCHR API - international recommendations of the UN in the field of human rights This means that JurLab has become not only a simulator, but also a dynamic knowledge base that allows students not only to respond to simulated situations, but also to rely on real legal sources. "JurLab was not created to replace the teacher, but to strengthen the student's thinking. Previously, students learned norms abstractly. Now they can immediately check their decision through the decision of the ECtHR or the recommendations of the UN — as it happens in real legal practice," notes the author of the project, Yuriy Gavrilov. The bot is already actively used in practical classes and promotes the development of critical, ethical and analytical thinking of future specialists. The project continues to develop: new scenarios, group formats of work are being prepared, and there is a possibility of inter-university cooperation. The author of the project is Yuriy Gavrylov, associate professor of the Department of Constitutional, Administrative and Labor Law, head of the department of the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, as well as the founder of the student legal community YGen, an expert in artificial intelligence and a certified teacher of Google AI. STEM project "Smart House" for students of Zaporizhia gymnasiums

In the fall semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, teachers of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University traditionally implemented the STEM project “Smart House” for students of gymnasiums No. 89, No. 106 and No. 109. The STEM project “Smart House” is engineering that works in real life. Schoolchildren get acquainted with the areas of study at Zaporizhia Polytechnic and, at the same time, create their own “smart” system for the home: with sensors, microcontrollers and programs that control light, security and energy consumption. They do not just learn, but do things that really simplify life. During the work, students got acquainted with the principles of IoT (Internet of Things), learned the advantages of modern technologies and studied the operation of light, motion and temperature sensors, and also developed algorithms for automatic control of lighting, climate and home security. The project also included a presentation of solutions, analysis of their effectiveness and prospects for their implementation in everyday life. According to the students, the most interesting part was assessing the possibilities of energy saving in everyday life through simple and affordable solutions from the Department of Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises. Based on the results of the defense of the presentations of the functional prototype of the "Smart Home", the jury recognized: - Anastasia Vusyk, Yevhenii Kolisnyk from Gymnasium 109 - Victoria Zhadovska, Karolina Krutikova, Anna Tovstokora, Leonid Sapozhynskyi, Anna Sinchenko, Dasha Nigmatova, Anastasia Bohdan from Gymnasium 89 - Roman Holovatenko, Anna Malinovska, Anna Klinkova, Yevhenii Sinenko, Valeria Bolsun from Gymnasium 106 We would like to thank the teachers who accompanied the students on the way to the implementation of the project: Svitlana Ruslanova (Gymnasium 109), Olena Marchenko (Gymnasium 89), Danylo Rengevych (Gymnasium 106).
