Visit to the State University

The Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, in order to exchange experience and present the achievements of higher education institutions that are participants in the community of universities of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?” – an initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska – on February 27, organized a visit to the State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic”.

The National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” was presented at the event by Andriy Ivanchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Socio-Economic Development and Youth Policy. Field meetings are a traditional format for exchanging experience and best practices among higher education institutions of the community.

Also participating were First Lady Olena Zelenska, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Kirilova, representatives of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, the National Qualifications Agency, vice-rectors and heads of psychological services of universities of the “How are you?” community, and experts in the field of mental health.

The results of a study on the training of non-medical professionals in the field of mental health were presented during the meeting. What should be the answers to the gaps highlighted by the research? The participants of the meeting strategized during a practical workshop.

6 new educational courses for mental health professionals, created by “How are you?”, were presented. in accordance with international standards and taking into account professional requests: “Prevention of risky behavior among youth”, “Trauma-informed approach”, “Adolescence: a map for adults”, “Mental health legislation: a navigator for a specialist”, “Stress-free motherhood and fatherhood: a course for specialists” and “Basic communication skills for providers of psychosocial support”.

The project was implemented with the support of the “Partnership for a Strong Ukraine” program, funded by the Governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden.
