To form specialists who possess deep conceptual and methodological knowledge in the field of construction and civil engineering, capable of integrating fundamental and applied knowledge, applying modern scientific methods, planning and performing independent research, producing scientific novelty, critically reflecting and developing engineering solutions taking into account social, environmental, economic and ethical aspects of the development of the industry.

To ensure that applicants acquire in-depth cognitive and research skills necessary for solving complex scientific and applied problems in the field of design, calculation and analysis of building structures and systems, organization and management of construction production, using modern digital technologies (BIM, CAD/CAE), engineering and mathematical modeling, analysis and optimization of technical solutions in accordance with the current regulatory framework and principles of academic integrity, as well as for producing new knowledge and scientific novelty.

Create conditions for the development of research, management and communication competencies, the ability to independently conduct scientific research, work in an interdisciplinary and international scientific environment, carry out professional and scientific communication in the state and foreign languages, form an individual educational and scientific trajectory, ensure academic mobility, continuous professional development and integration into the global scientific space.

Promote the formation of a high level of autonomy, responsibility and scientific integrity in professional and research activities, the ability to make informed decisions in complex and uncertain conditions, initiate and implement scientific and innovative projects in the field of construction and civil engineering, introduce modern, energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies, ensuring the sustainable development of the state and the region.

Teaching and learning at the third (educational and scientific) level is based on the implementation of modern educational and scientific approaches that ensure student-centered learning, the development of critical thinking, the ability to independently conduct scientific analysis, the formation of scientific novelty and the adoption of substantiated engineering and research decisions, as well as a high level of professional autonomy of applicants. The educational process is based on a combination of research-oriented, problem-oriented and individualized learning with the active use of digital technologies, modern information resources and elements of self-study. Particular attention is paid to the ability to apply in-depth theoretical knowledge and scientific research methodology to solve complex scientific and applied problems in the field of construction and civil engineering.

The study of educational components involves conducting lectures, practical and laboratory classes, scientific seminars, completing individual research tasks, preparing scientific publications, participating in conferences and completing a dissertation research. The educational process includes the extensive use of modern computer-aided design and engineering analysis software (CAD/CAE/BIM), mathematical and computer modeling tools, the implementation of research and innovation projects, the analysis and justification of engineering solutions, as well as the presentation of research results in a professional and international scientific environment.

Special attention is paid to the individual scientific work of applicants under the guidance of a scientific supervisor, in particular in the process of conducting dissertation research, working with scientific sources, international databases, regulatory documentation and digital resources. Applicants are involved in conducting fundamental and applied research, interdisciplinary and international scientific cooperation, interaction with enterprises and organizations in the construction industry, which ensures the formation of research, engineering and management competencies, as well as readiness for scientific, pedagogical and professional activities in the face of modern challenges.

The assessment system provides for monitoring the implementation of the educational and scientific components of the educational and scientific program, the individual curriculum and the individual plan of scientific work of the applicant.

The assessment of learning outcomes is carried out on a 100-point scale or on a two-point scale («passed» / «not passed») depending on the form of final control. Control measures include initial, ongoing, intermediate (boundary) and final control, as well as other forms of assessment provided for by the programs of educational components.

Forms of assessment include written and oral exams, testing, individual assignments, preparation of abstracts, analytical reviews, presentations, scientific reports, performance and defense of practical and research works, defense of reports on scientific and pedagogical practice, as well as other forms of control determined by the work programs of educational components.

Assessment of the scientific component of training is carried out by monitoring the implementation of the individual plan of scientific work, periodic certification of the applicant at department meetings, consideration of the results of dissertation research, assessment of the level of approval of scientific results at conferences, seminars and other scientific events, as well as analysis of publication activity in accordance with the topic of the dissertation work.

Attestation of applicants involves regular reporting on the results of the implementation of the individual plan of educational and scientific work, passing an annual assessment of the results of training and confirmation of compliance with the requirements of the educational and scientific program. The results of the certification are considered at a meeting of the department and are taken into account when making decisions regarding the applicant’s further education.

The forms of control measures, criteria, methods and assessment tools correspond to the goals of training and program outcomes of the educational and scientific program, ensure the objectivity of assessment, transparency of procedures, adherence to the principles of academic integrity and the possibility of confirming the achievement of the specified competencies and program learning outcomes by applicants.

The final certification is carried out in the form of a public defense of a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, which is the result of independent scientific research, contains scientific novelty and solves a relevant scientific problem or a complex problem in the field of construction and civil engineering.

The educational process for the ONP is provided by the Graduate Department of Construction Production and Project Management. The group providing the educational and scientific program includes scientific and pedagogical workers who work at their main place of work, in particular, 100% of teachers have a scientific degree and academic title, among which 20% have the academic title of professor, and 80% have the academic title of associate professor, which ensures the appropriate level of scientific and pedagogical support for the training of applicants for the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

The composition of scientific and pedagogical workers is characterized by the presence of experience in conducting scientific research in the field of construction and civil engineering, participation in the performance of scientific and research works, publications in professional scientific publications of Ukraine and publications indexed in international scientometric databases (Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection), as well as experience in preparing scientific and educational and methodological works. This ensures the formation of the ability of applicants to solve complex scientific and applied problems, conduct independent research, and obtain new scientific results.

All scientific and pedagogical workers have a level of scientific and professional activity that meets the Licensing Conditions for the implementation of educational activities, in particular, at least four achievements in professional activity over the past five years, specified in clause 38 of the Licensing Conditions. The compliance of the educational and/or professional qualifications of scientific and pedagogical workers with the educational components is determined on the basis of documents on higher education, award of a scientific degree, experience of professional activity in the relevant specialty, as well as scientific publications in specialized publications and international scientometric databases.

The material and technical base of the Department of Construction Production and Project Management meets the requirements for providing educational and scientific activities at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education in accordance with the Licensing Conditions for the Implementation of Educational Activities.

The educational and scientific process is carried out in classrooms, research laboratories and computer classes equipped with modern equipment, licensed operating systems and specialized professional and scientific software (AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, Robot Structural Analysis, LIRA-SAPR), which ensures the implementation of scientific research, processing and analysis of results, modeling and design in the field of construction and civil engineering.

Doctor of Philosophy degree candidates have access to the necessary educational and scientific infrastructure, information resources, scientific and metric databases, library funds and electronic resources that ensure the proper level of preparation and conduct of dissertation research. If necessary, applicants are provided with places in a dormitory that meets the established regulatory requirements for the implementation of educational activities.

The Scientific Library of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University is the official scientific and information unit of the university and one of the largest university libraries in the region. The library provides access to world information resources, in particular to the resources of Elsevier (SCOPUS), Web of Science. The library has implemented an automated library and information system «UFD/Library».

The library provides library and information support for the educational and research activities of the university, and ensures the cultural and educational work of the university. The certification of higher education applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy is carried out in the form of a public defense of a dissertation in a one-time specialized academic council, based on the results of which a document of the established sample (diploma of Doctor of Philosophy) is issued with the assignment of the qualification: Doctor of Philosophy in the field of »Engineering, Production and Construction« in the specialty »Construction and Civil Engineering”.

A dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy is an independent, comprehensive study that proposes a solution to a complex problem in the field of mechanical engineering or at its border with other specialties, which involves a deep rethinking of existing and the creation of new holistic knowledge and/or professional practice. The dissertation work must not contain academic plagiarism, falsification, fabrication. A mandatory condition for admission to the defense is the successful implementation by the applicant of his individual curriculum and individual plan of scientific work. The dissertation work must meet other requirements established by law. The dissertation must be placed in the repository and other electronic information resources in accordance with the requirements.

A dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have a main text volume of 4.5-7 author’s sheets. The requirements for the design of the dissertation are established by the Ministry of Education and Science (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated January 12, 2017 No. 40).
