The educational and scientific program «Industrial Mechanical Engineering» (PhD) of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University trains researchers and scientific and pedagogical workers for institutions of higher education, scientific institutions and machine-building enterprises. The program forms the systematic research thinking necessary to solve fundamental and applied problems of the auto tractor industry in the context of the transition to ecological and energy-efficient technologies.
The training is based on studying the methodology of scientific research, mathematical modeling of processes in vehicles and engines, as well as mastering modern methods of collecting and processing experimental data. Research projects of graduate students are focused on key areas: improvement of work processes of internal combustion heat engines, optimization of hybrid power plants, greening of transport and increase of operational reliability of mechanisms. Winners also study pedagogy and practice teaching engineering disciplines.
An important feature of the program is the presence of a solid experimental base. Specialized test stands, modern diagnostic equipment and measuring tools are used for research, which allows graduate students to verify mathematical models based on real physical experiments. Candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy take an active part in the implementation of scientific and applied projects, as well as undergo mandatory approval of the results at professional scientific conferences.
