The information infrastructure of the modern world is subjected to cyberattacks, technical threats

and unauthorized access attempts every day. Today, protecting information infrastructure means

protecting the economy, national security, the continuity of the functioning of critical

systems and digital services used by millions of people. Therefore, specialists who are able to design, implement and ensure the effective functioning of modern information protection systems are among the most sought-after professionals in the world. The educational and professional program «Technical Protection of Infrastructure of Information Activities» of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University is designed for those who seek not only to work in IT, but also to design and create a secure digital infrastructure, ensure the stability of critical information infrastructure and protect the information resources of the state, business and society. modern network equipment, virtualized environments, cyber polygons, team projects,
industrial practice and scientific research allow you to gain experience that is as close as possible to real professional tasks. The program is based on an engineering approach to building a secure digital infrastructure. The combination of modern information technologies, international cybersecurity standards, and practical training produces specialists who are able to design, implement, and improve technical information protection systems. Graduates of the program successfully build a professional career in the field of cybersecurity in the public and private sectors. They design and implement technical information protection systems, ensure the security of information infrastructure, analyze vulnerabilities, apply modern cryptographic solutions, and participate in the creation of a secure digital infrastructure. The professional activities of graduates include state

agency, law enforcement agencies, security and defense forces, IT and telecommunications companies,

financial institutions and other organizations whose activities are related to the protection of information

Program Profile

  • Object of activity:

    The objects of study and professional activity are the scientific and engineering foundations of cybersecurity and information protection technologies, technologies, methods, models and tools of information and cybersecurity, processes of cybersecurity and information protection management, security of information resources, systems and technologies, objects of information activity and critical information infrastructure, as well as the processes of design, implementation, operation, security assessment, maintenance, modernization and development of information, information and communication systems, complex information protection systems, software and hardware and technologies for ensuring cybersecurity and information infrastructure protection.

  • Theoretical content:

    Theoretical content of the subject area consists of theories, concepts, principles, models, methods and regulatory and legal principles of cybersecurity, information security, technical and cryptographic information protection, protection of vital interests of man, society and the state in cyberspace, ensuring the security of information systems and technologies, managing information security risks, timely detection, prevention and neutralization of cyber threats, cyber incidents and targeted (mixed) attacks, protecting information resources, objects of information activity and critical information infrastructure, as well as engineering support for the creation, functioning and development of complex information protection systems.

  • Methods and technologies:

    Methods, techniques and technologies include methods, techniques and technologies for research, modeling, analysis, design, implementation, evaluation and improvement of the processes of creation, processing, transmission, reception, storage, display and protection of information resources, risk analysis, threat modeling, information security audit, assessment of information system security, design of complex information protection systems, security testing, digital forensics, detection, analysis and investigation of cyber incidents, prevention and neutralization of real and potential threats to information resources, objects of information activity and critical information infrastructure, as well as modern network, cloud, virtualized, software-hardware and intelligent technologies for ensuring cybersecurity.

    Tools and equipment are applied and specialized software, software and hardware for technical and cryptographic information protection, network and telecommunications equipment, information security hardware, monitoring, recording and analysis tools for information security events, cyber incident detection and response systems, laboratory stands, cybersecurity testing grounds, virtualized and cloud environments, modern tools for modeling, testing, assessing the security of information systems, investigating cyber incidents and ensuring the effective functioning of complex information protection systems.

Training highly qualified specialists capable of solving complex tasks and practical problems in the field of technical protection of the infrastructure of information activity facilities, cybersecurity and information protection through the application of modern engineering, information and research approaches, which meets the mission and strategic priorities of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, the needs of employers, society and the state.

Teaching and Assessment

Student-centered and problem-oriented learning, lectures, practical and laboratory classes, individual and team projects, independent work, consultations, industrial practice, qualification work, use of specialized laboratories, virtualized environments, distance and blended learning technologies.

Education quality control involves control measures and analytical work to analyze their results. The applicant’s learning outcomes are assessed using control measures provided for by the educational program and programs of educational components on a 100-point scale or on a two-point scale (passed – not passed). The share of mandatory educational components that provide for a final assessment on a 100-point scale must be at least 70% of the total number of educational components.

Control measures include final control, and may also provide for input, current, intermediate and other forms of control, if they are determined by the programs of educational components. Forms of control measures, criteria, methods and assessment tools must correspond to the learning objectives and expected learning outcomes of each educational component.

Resource Provision

Scientific and pedagogical workers who ensure the implementation of the educational program meet the requirements of the current Licensing Conditions for the Conduct of Educational Activities and have an appropriate level of scientific and professional activity. More than 70% of teachers who provide mandatory educational components have a scientific degree and an academic title. Practitioners from enterprises, institutions and organizations in the field of cybersecurity and information protection are also involved in the implementation of the educational program, which helps to combine theoretical training with the current needs of professional activity.

In accordance with the technological requirements for the material and technical support of educational activities of the second (master’s) level of higher education in accordance with the current License Terms, training is carried out in specialized laboratories for software protection, technical information protection and computer network protection. The educational process is aimed at developing special (professional) competencies and practical skills in ensuring cybersecurity and technical protection of information.

The material and technical support meets the established requirements and includes classrooms equipped with multimedia equipment, computer classes, specialized laboratories, modern network and software and hardware equipment, a library with a reading room, dormitories and other social and household infrastructure.

Practical training of applicants is carried out using specialized laboratories, cyber polygons, virtualized environments and modern software, as well as the material and technical base of partner enterprises during internship.

Applicants have access to the Internet, electronic information resources of the university, distance learning systems, an electronic library and other services necessary for educational, scientific and research work. activities.

In accordance with the requirements of the current License Terms, the information and educational and methodological support of the educational program is sufficient to achieve the specified learning outcomes.

The university library provides access to traditional library collections (841,880 copies), a collection of electronic documents (54,828 titles), international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science (http://www.zp.edu.ua/naukova-biblioteka), as well as an electronic institutional repository (https://eir.zp.edu.ua/home). The university is connected to the Ukrainian scientific and educational telecommunication network URAN.

To implement the educational program, curricula, work programs of educational components, practical training programs, methodological materials and means of assessing learning outcomes have been developed and approved. Access to educational materials is provided through the Moodle distance learning system, and the educational process is managed using the Automated Educational Institution Management System (ACS), which provides a single information space of the university (https://portal.zp.edu.ua/).

Academic Mobility

National credit mobility of higher education applicants is carried out in accordance with the Regulations on the procedure for implementing the right to academic mobility of participants in the educational process of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University (https://zp.edu.ua/uploads/pubdocs/2022/Nakaz_N210_vid_28.06.22.pdf) and cooperation agreements with higher education institutions of Ukraine. The university’s partners are the Admiral Makarov National Shipbuilding University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Dnipropetrovsk Polytechnic National Technical University, Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University and Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics.

International academic mobility of higher education applicants is implemented in accordance with the Regulations on the procedure for exercising the right to academic mobility of participants in the educational process of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University (https://zp.edu.ua/uploads/pubdocs/2022/Nakaz_N210_vid_28.06.22.pdf), international cooperation agreements, international programs and projects, as well as agreements with higher education institutions in other countries. The main mechanism for international credit mobility is the Erasmus+ program. (https://zp.edu.ua/akademichna-mobilnist).

The university’s partners include, in particular, the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), the Institute of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund (Germany) and the Thomas More University College Mechelen-Antwerpen (Belgium).

At the time of approval of the educational program, there were no double diploma agreements under this OPP.

Foreign Students

In accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine, the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University has the right to train foreign citizens. The education of foreign applicants for higher education according to the educational program is regulated by the Regulations on the organization of recruitment and training (internship) of foreigners and stateless persons at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University (https://zp.edu.ua/uploads/dept_inter/pol_pro_org_naboru_ta_navch_inozemtsiv.pdf). Admission to study is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of Ukraine and the University Admission Rules. The educational process is provided by scientific and pedagogical staff who meet the requirements of the current Licensing Conditions, and foreign applicants must speak the state language at a level sufficient to master the educational program.
