The educational and professional program «Computer Engineering» is an opportunity to acquire a profession that will remain in demand for many decades. In today’s world, where digital technologies permeate all spheres of life, we need specialists who are able not only to use computer technology, but also to create it – to design hardware and software, build networks, develop embedded systems, and implement engineering ideas into real technical solutions. It is precisely such specialists of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education that are trained by the Department of Computer Systems and Networks of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
The key feature of the program is its applied engineering focus. You will not be limited to studying individual programming languages or technologies – you will learn to understand how computer systems work in a complex, from digital circuitry and microprocessor architectures to distributed networks and cloud computing. The program covers three interrelated components of professional training. The first is the design of digital and embedded systems on programmable logic integrated circuits using the hardware description languages VHDL and Verilog. The second is building computer networks, using wireless technologies, and ensuring information security. The third is mastering modern computing technologies, including parallel, distributed, intelligent, and cloud computing. This combination of competencies makes graduates versatile and at the same time valuable in the labor market, because there is always a shortage of specialists with a combination of hardware and code knowledge.
You will undergo practical training at partner enterprises in the Zaporizhzhia region – in energy, mechanical engineering, aircraft construction, metallurgy and IT companies. An individual educational trajectory can be formed through elective disciplines, and the most active students have the opportunity to participate in international academic mobility. The study lasts 3 years 10 months in full-time or part-time form and covers 240 ECTS credits.
This education gives confidence in the future. The graduate is prepared to work at enterprises of any form of ownership in the field of information technology, telecommunications and industry. He can hold the positions of software developer, system administrator, engineer for the design, implementation and technical support of computer systems and networks, specialist in embedded systems and industrial automation. The bachelor’s degree corresponds to level 7 of the National Qualifications Framework and opens the way to continuing education in a master’s degree, advanced training and career building in Ukrainian and international companies.
