Engineering Week at Lyceum No. 15: from Micro:bit to the magic of physics

Teachers of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University held a series of events for students of grades 9–10 of Zaporizhia Academic Lyceum No. 15 as part of the Engineering Week.

Associate Professor of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations Yevhen Potapenko and Director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova organized the location “Do it with Micro:bit”. They introduced students to the prospects of developing projects based on the Micro:bit board, and also implemented exciting activities together with schoolchildren:
– mini-project “Magic Ball”, which answers questions and predicts the future
– dexterity game “Catch the Dot”
– work of Maqueen Micro:bit robots, which showed the key principles of automation, mechatronics and electrical engineering

Senior lecturer of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications Harry Moroz prepared the location “Physics or Magic: Revealing Secrets”, where students saw with their own eyes that numerous exciting effects, similar to magic, are based on the known laws of physics. Radio signals, hydraulic systems, magnetic and electrical phenomena – high school students saw that physics is not only a science, but also an amazing adventure.
