Department “System Analysis and Computational Mathematics”

The year of the beginning of activity: 1965

Regulations on the department

Department of System Analysis and Computational Mathematics

is one of the leading educational and scientific divisions that trains specialists in modern mathematical methods of analysis, modeling and management of complex systems in the conditions of digital transformation of society. Fundamental mathematical knowledge is combined here with innovative information technologies.

Mission of the department

The main goal of the department is the formation of analytical thinking in students and providing them with deep knowledge in the field of system analysis and data science, algorithms, and methods of artificial intelligence. The department trains specialists capable of designing, analyzing and optimizing processes in various fields of human activity — from economics to IT.

Educational approach

The educational process is built with a focus on interdisciplinary. Students study not only classical mathematics and modeling, but also modern courses in machine learning, data analysis, numerical methods, statistics and programming. Emphasis is placed on the formation of research and practical skills necessary for solving real problems in conditions of uncertainty and a large amount of data.

Partnerships and opportunities

The department maintains partnerships with IT companies and scientific institutions. Thanks to this, students have the opportunity to undergo internships, participate in scientific projects, competitions, analytical case championships. Open cooperation with representatives of the industry allows you to join the dual form of education.

Scientific activity

The teachers of the department are actively engaged in scientific research in the field of applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, modeling of dynamic systems, management theory, and mathematical statistics. The results are published in domestic and international journals included in authoritative scientometric databases. Teachers of the department participate in grant and international projects, providing students with the opportunity to participate in scientific work.

Career prospects

Graduates of the department work in the fields of information technologies, implementation of artificial intelligence, analytics, programming, scientific research, project management, as well as in IT companies, banks, manufacturing enterprises and government structures. They are distinguished by the ability to combine mathematical logic with technological vision to solve complex problems.

Present day and development

The department constantly improves the educational process, updates the material and technical base, introduces modern educational technologies, maintains relations with graduates and develops international cooperation. This ensures a high level of training for those seeking higher education at three levels of study: bachelor's, master's, and training for doctors of philosophy.
