Address of the Council of Rectors of the Kharkiv region to compatriots
On April 18, 2014, a meeting of the Council of rectors of higher education institutions of III-IV levels of accreditation of the Kharkiv region was held in the walls of Kharkiv National University named after V. N. Karazin, during which an appeal was accepted regarding the events taking place in the state today.
The participants discussed the position of the educational community of the Kharkiv region in relation to the political situation and called on colleagues from other regions of Ukraine, the scientific-pedagogical and student community, representatives of political and public organizations, the Ukrainian and international public to join forces for a peaceful solution to the current difficult situation.
During the discussion, the members of the Council of Rectors condemned any actions aimed at dividing Ukraine, inciting conflicts and military confrontations. «We call on every citizen of Ukraine, everyone who wants peace and peace around him and in his soul, to take part in a peaceful and open dialogue for the sake of solving the conflicts that are going on today in the socio-political environment,» the text of the appeal reads.
The appeal was adopted unanimously and sent to the Union of Rectors of Ukraine, all regional councils of rectors, mass media.
