Mourning for an era!
On August 19 of this year, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, twice Hero of Socialist Labor, the first Hero of Ukraine, Academician Borys Paton, passed away.
The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine announces with deep sadness that on August 19 of this year, world and domestic science suffered a great loss – At the age of 102, the heart of an outstanding Ukrainian scientist in the field of metallurgy, metal technology, electric welding and metal science, organizer of science, statesman and public figure, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the NAS of Ukraine, twice Hero of Socialist Labor, the first Hero of Ukraine, Academician Borys Evgenievich Paton, stopped.
The Department of Welding Production Equipment and Technology joins and shares the grief with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – a great loss of a person with a bright mind and a caring heart.
For many years, members of our department have been closely cooperating with the National Academy of Sciences in the areas of developing 3D printing technologies, producing powders from heat-resistant and other alloys for 3D printers, producing materials for aircraft engines and materials for medicine.
We express our sincere condolences to the colleagues and students of B.E. Paton, with whom our department collaborates. We will all miss communication with the era very much. In this time of sorrow, we share our grief and pay our last respects to Academician Boris Yevgenovich Paton.
