We are also pleased to invite you to the presentation of the Competition, which will be held within the walls of the university with the participation of scholarship holders and official representatives of «Zavtra.UA». Estimated date and place: 09/25/2013 in the auditorium. 320

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The «Zavtra.UA» Scholarship Program, initiated by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, is the first private nationwide initiative in Ukraine to support talented youth.

Its main goal is to contribute to the formation and strengthening of a new generation of the country’s intellectual and business elite. The program is aimed at ensuring that talented youth find a place worthy of their intellectual and professional level in various spheres of science, economy, and public life of the country and become a driving force for progressive changes in Ukraine.

Scholarships of the «Zavtra.UA» are selected annually on the basis of an open nationwide competition.

WHAT VICTORY GIVES

Within the framework of the Scholarship Program «Zavtra.UA» of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, the most gifted and purposeful students of leading higher educational institutions of Ukraine are searched, selected and supported.

Selection of scholarship holders of the Program is carried out according to the results of an annual open nationwide competition. The competition is regulated in accordance with a separate document – Conditions of the competition, which is approved annually.

Students who have won the competition or participated in it have the right to participate in competitions in subsequent years on a general basis.

Winning the Competition provides the following.

1. Scholarships

The Program provides for the payment of scholarships during the calendar year to the winners of the competition – scholarship holders of the Program (see the terms of this year’s competition). The total size of the scholarship fund of the Program and the number of winners of the competition are established and approved annually by a separate decision of the Foundation. Scholarships are transferred monthly to a bank plastic card of the Program’s partner bank. In 2012/13, the amount of the scholarship is 942.00 UAH. per month, after taxes – 800.70 UAH. per month.

2. Additional opportunities for personal development

Participation in the Program also provides other opportunities for expanding the general worldview, participation in social projects and professional development. Program fellows can apply for financial support for scientific activities, etc. The Program also does not exclude the possibility of supporting fellows during their further postgraduate studies.

The Program provides for the creation of an informal club that will serve as a platform for scientific and educational thematic meetings, for the exchange of experience and information, etc.

3. Promoting further employment in Ukraine

The «Zavtra.UA» Program plans to create a system to promote further employment of scholarship holders in promising areas of science, economics, public administration and public life of Ukraine.

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITIVE WORKS

1. Works submitted to the competition of the Scholarship Program «Zavtra.UA» must be in the nature of independent research devoted to current problems in various fields of science, socio-political life and economics.

2. The work must consist of an introductory part, a main part and conclusions. The detailed introductory part formulates the problem under study, outlines its significance and the current state of the solution, describes the methods chosen by the contestant. The main part briefly but clearly presents a presentation of the contestant’s independent work. The conclusions briefly formulate the main results of the work, their possible theoretical and practical application.

3. The work must be accompanied by a list of sources and literature used (up to 25 titles).

4. Evaluation of competition works. Each competition work is independently evaluated on a 20 (twenty) -point scale by three professional experts, according to the criteria for evaluating competition works approved by the Foundation. The total score is the sum of the scores of three experts, with a maximum of -60 (sixty) points. The works are submitted to experts for review without specifying the name of the author of the work, the course and the university in which the contestant is studying. The names of the experts who evaluate the works are not disclosed.

5. When evaluating the works, attention will be paid to the general erudition of the contestant, his ability to formulate a relevant scientific problem and outline its place in the relevant field of knowledge, the level of his awareness of the current state of the relevant field, originality, systematicity, literacy of the presentation, reliability of the conclusions, the possibility of further development and application of the results of the work in science, production, and public life.

6. A competitive work that is abstract in nature, does not contain elements of novelty, is frankly erroneous, or is plagiarism, is evaluated with a score of 0 (zero). Based on a motivated explanation of the expert, the Foundation has the right to reject a work evaluated with 0 (zero) points, even if two other experts evaluated it with positive assessments. If the score of «zero» is given by two or more experts, the work is automatically rejected. Participants in the competitive selection whose works were rejected according to the decision of the Foundation are not allowed to participate in the competition further.

7. Each participant submits only one work according to the list of scientific areas approved by the Foundation (see List of scientific areas).

8. Scientific works of a team of authors are not accepted for participation in the competition. If the scientific work was published in co-authorship with other authors, the contestant must clearly indicate what exactly was done by him and submit a description of his part of the work to the competition. Otherwise, the work will be considered plagiarism.

9. Re-submission of works that have already been submitted to previous competitions of the Scholarship Program is not allowed.

10. If the contestant submits a scientific work to the competition of the Scholarship Program «Zavtra.UA» not for the first time, the scientific supervisor (or the person recommending the work) must separately certify in the review that the submitted work is new and is not a repetition of works (indicate their titles) that were submitted to the competition of the Scholarship Program earlier. If the work is a continuation of works submitted to the competition of the Scholarship Program earlier, the review must clearly indicate the new results obtained and other elements of scientific novelty compared to previously submitted works.

11. The maximum volume of the work is up to 8 pages (or 16,000 characters with spaces) in 14-point font (preferably Times New Roman) in a text editor (preferably Microsoft Word). The specified volume includes: graphic images – tables, graphs, drawings; references; list of sources and literature, etc.

12. Language of the competition work: Ukrainian, Russian or English (at the choice of the contestant), the language of the work does not affect its evaluation.

13. The text of the competition work must begin with the title of the work and not contain any data about the author, scientific supervisor, course and university.

14. After the title, the scientific direction and subdirection in which the competition work was performed are indicated, and a list of keywords is provided (maximum five).

15. The pages of the work are numbered. The code and title of the work are indicated in the header of the page. The code of the work – six digits in any order and four letters of the Latin alphabet in any order (for example, 568214FGKO) is indicated by the author of the work himself. This same code must be indicated in the Application for participation in the Competition (see Sample Application for participation in the Competition).

16. The electronic version of the work must not exceed 2 (two) megabytes (2 MB = 2048 KB). The name of the file with the electronic version of the work must match the code of the work.

17. Students who submit documents to participate in the Competition directly to the Program must send the necessary package of documents (see the Competition Terms), which includes the competition work, through the registration form on the competition website www.zavtra.in.ua.

18. Students who submit documents through a university to an authorized representative of their university must provide one copy of the work and documents on a CD to the authorized representative of their university and must upload the files through the registration form on the competition website www.zavtra.in.ua

19. The contestant who submits the work to participate in the competition agrees that the organizer of the competition – the Foundation reserves the right to publish the competition works (an outline of the main content of these works, or their main provisions) on the Program website and in other publications, taking into account the copyright of the owner of the materials. In this case, the copyright for the submitted competition work remains with the contestant (author of the work). In the event of plagiarism, without indicating the author and source of information, the contestant is solely responsible for the content of the competition work.

20. The contestant who submits the work to participate in the competition agrees that the materials (CDs, etc.) containing the competition documents and the work will not be returned.
