Lessons for schoolchildren «Programming of robotics» from Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic
On November 28, a lesson «Programming of robotics» was held in a remote format, the conduct of which was initiated in cooperation with the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University with the KU «Center for Professional Development of Pedagogical Workers.
The children were greeted by the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Viktor Greshta, vice-rector Andriy Ivanchenko, head of the department of electric drive and automation of industrial installations Andriy Pyrozhok, director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova, consultant of the municipal institution of the Zaporizhzhia City Council »Center for Professional Development of Pedagogical Workers” Olena Milkina.
About 50 students of grades 6-8 registered for the event, having shown interest in programming robotics, namely quadcopters.
During the classes, the children got acquainted with the areas of application of quadcopters and professions in which drones can be used; design, aerodynamics and various principles of their control. They considered the main stages of flight programming using SCRATCH and PYTHON, learned to program takeoff and landing, turns and flight along a given trajectory.
We are grateful for the initiative and creative approach in preparing and conducting the class to the employees of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, senior laboratory assistant Oleksandr Kupchenko, associate professor Olena Nazarova, head of the department Andriy Pirozhko.
Young inventors and scientists are the basis for the development of new technologies, increasing the competitiveness of our state in the world market and strengthening its defense capabilities. We believe that such classes will promote students’ self-determination and bring them closer to their future profession.
