Interaction of TEMPUS projects at ZNTU
On March 20, 2014, the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University hosted an inter-TEMPUS coaching dedicated to finding and discussing effective ways to achieve the goal of the international TEMPUS program at ZNTU. The event was attended by deans of faculties, heads of departments, teachers, university employees, representatives of the Student Employment Center, student self-government, company managers of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Prof. Andrienko O.M., assistant rector for international cooperation. He provided general information about the TEMPUS educational program of the European Union, which supports the modernization of the higher education system and finances inter-university cooperation in the field of development and improvement of educational programs, university management, interaction of scientists and civil society, partnership of education and business, as well as structural reforms in the field of higher education. Andrienko O.M. in his speech, he emphasized that in 2004-2013 ZNTU took part in the implementation of 8 projects of the TEMPUS program. As a result of the implementation of the projects, a new specialization «International Finance» was opened; developed practice-oriented curricula and modules of master’s programs in engineering; a master’s training plan was developed in the «System Software» specialty, which provides the opportunity to obtain two master’s degrees – Ukrainian and Polish. Thanks to participation in TEMPUS projects, an information transfer laboratory, a CAD/CAM/CAE-systems laboratory, a computer class was created at ZNTU, and a remote laboratory is planned to be opened. Teachers, employees and students had the opportunity to visit universities in Armenia, Lithuania, Belgium, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany and Spain, to undergo internships or study at foreign universities. A significant result of participation in the projects was the acquisition of computer equipment, office equipment, licensed programs and literature for the ZNTU in the amount of almost 150,000 euros.
Now ZNTU is working on the implementation of five projects of the TEMPUS program:
- «Modernization of higher technical education in Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan to solve technological demands» (ENGITEC) (2012-2015);
- «Industrial cooperation and creative technical education based on remote engineering and virtual tools» (ICo-op) (2012-2015);
- «Development of embedded systems courses using innovative virtual approaches for the integration of science, education and industry in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia» (DesIRE) (2013-2016);
- «Centers of excellence for young scientists» (CERES) (2013-2016);
- «Interregional network for the innovative development of technosphere ecosystems, which is based on the technologies of micro- and nano-objects» (2013-2016).
Departments of 4 institutes of ZNTU (Mechanical Engineering Institute, Institute of Management and Law, Institute of Informatics and Radio Electronics, Institute of Physics and Technology), as well as partners from industrial enterprises and companies of the region, participate in the implementation of the projects.
Presentations of the results of the ENGITEC (Prof. L.Y. Ivshchenko) and ICo-op (Assoc. A.V. Parkhomenko) projects for the period October 2012 – March 2014 were presented at the meeting. The coordinators of the new projects DesIRE (Prof. Tabunshchik G.V.), CERES (Prof. Subbotin S.O.) and «Interregional network for innovative development of technosphere ecosystems based on micro- and nanoobject technologies» (Prof. Kachan O.Ya.), which started at the end of 2013, highlighted the general and specific goals of the projects, areas of activity under the projects, expected results and partnership.
Those present discussed the possibilities of inter-project interaction, common tasks, as well as the motivation of project participants.
