All-Ukrainian student Olympiad in the specialty «Organization and regulation of traffic»

According to the Order of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 1820 dated 23.12.2013 «On holding the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad 2013/2014 academic year», ZNTU is designated as the base university for the holding of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in the specialty «Organization and Traffic Regulation», which took place on April 15-18, 2014.

Preparation for the Olympiad by the «Transport Technologies» department, the laboratory of pre-graduate training and work with gifted youth, typography and other departments of the university began in January 2014 with the development of the Olympiad concept, preparation and discussion of theoretical and practical tasks, the selection of the venue for the practical Olympiad tour, as well as the development of the design of the program, winners’ diplomas, badges of participants and members of the Olympiad jury. In advance, letters of invitation to participate in the Olympiad were sent to all universities of Ukraine that train specialists of this profile.

The solemn opening of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad took place on April 16 in the Auditorium. 253 of the main building of ZNTU. The guests of the university, organizers and student participants of the Olympiad were greeted by the vice-rector for scientific work, prof. Vnukov Yu.M. and the head of the «Transport Technologies» department, prof. Babushkin G.F. and wished success in solving the tasks of the Olympiad, and also that the strongest would win!

Teams from six universities of Ukraine took part in the Olympiad: Lviv Polytechnic National University, Donetsk National Technical University Automobile and Road Institute, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Kharkiv National Automobile and Road University, National Transport University (Kyiv) and Zaporizhzhia National Technical University.

The Olympiad was held in two rounds: I round (theoretical) – solving competitive problems, testing (April 16); II round (practical) – visit to the intersection of Zaporizhzhia, development of the traffic organization scheme (April 17).

On April 18, the solemn closing of the Olympiad took place, awarding of winners, prize-winners and the best in nominations. According to the results of the work of the Olympiad jury members, the prizes were distributed as follows:

• 1st place – Hrytsun Oleh Mykhailovych, student of the Lviv Polytechnic National University;
• 2nd place – Sotin Serhiy Valeriyovych, a student of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University;
• 3rd place – Sharina Mariia Vadimivna, a student of the National Transport University.

In addition to the diplomas of the winners, students participating in the Olympiad received diplomas for nominations:

• for a high level of knowledge in the discipline «Traffic Management» – Liliya Olehivna Podolyak, a student of the National Transport University;
• for a high level of knowledge in the discipline «Traffic Rules» – Neoneta Mariia Valeriivna, a student of the Kharkiv National Automobile and Road University;
• for a high level of knowledge in the discipline «Technical means of traffic management» – Yevchuk Myroslav Yuriyovych, student of the National University «Lviv Polytechnic»;
• for a high level of knowledge in the discipline «Road conditions and traffic safety» – Oleksiy Pavlovich Petrashenko, a student of the National Transport University;
• for the best solution of problems from the discipline «Traffic organization» – Sharina Mariia Vadimovna, student of the National Transport University;
• for the best solution of problems from the discipline «Road conditions and traffic safety» – Sotin Serhiy Valeriyovych, student of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University;
• for the best solution of problems from the discipline «Technical means of traffic management» – Hrytsun Oleh Mykhailovych, student of the National University «Lviv Polytechnic»;
• for the originality of solving problems – Bokach Valentin Mykolayovych, student of Lviv State University of Life Safety.

In the team competition:

• 1st place – the team of the National Transport University;
• 2nd place – the team of the Lviv Polytechnic National University;
• 3rd place – the team of Lviv State University of Life Safety.

As part of the event, Olympiad participants and guests of our city had the opportunity to visit with a tour JSC «ZAZ» (April 15), the Boguslaev Museum of Technology (April 17), and also enjoy a tour of historical and cherished places of Zaporizhzhia (April 18).

Thus, the Olympiad contributed not only to the further creative and professional growth of its participants, but also became a time to get acquainted with the famous Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, the city of Zaporizhzhia, the history of our Cossack region and its traditions.
