Opening of the memorial plaque to Popov V.S.

On October 17, 2017, the opening of the memorial plaque to Popov Veniamin Stepanovych (1927-2010), founder of the department «Equipment and technology of welding production» (from 1964 to 2006), rector of the V.Ya. Chubar State University of Mass Media (from 1978 to 1993), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.

Since the organization of the Department of Welding and Welding on April 25, 1964, the energetic scientist-teacher Veniamin Stepanovych Popov created a team of like-minded people who were united by the desire to develop scientific and technological progress, embodied in high-tech welding processes. Over 50 years, the department has trained more than 3,000 engineers working in various industries in Ukraine and the world.

This outstanding person made an invaluable contribution to the development of the university, the establishment of higher education in Ukraine, and the raising of the technical level of science in many fields.

The ceremonial opening of the memorial plaque was headed by the rector of ZNTU Belikov Serhiy Borisovich. The plaque was opened by: the head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Professor Ovchinnikov O.V., professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Popov S.M., the rector of ZNTU Belikov S.B. and a graduate of the department, the general director of «Zaporizhtransformator» Kleiner I.V.

The following made speeches: the head of the Zaporizhzhia branch of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Ukraine Golovko O.S., sculptor Chak B.Yu., the rector of the Classical Private University Ogarenko V.M.

At the solemn meeting of the department, the following spoke about V.S. Popov: the general director of «Triada-Welding» Krasnoselsky K.V., the chief welder of «Motor-Sich» Petryk I.A., the chief welder of ZTR Alekseev M.I., the deputy chairman of the ZNTU veterans’ council Gamov M.S., the dean of the Faculty of Information Technology Klimov O.V., the professor of the department «Metal Technology» Mityaev O.A., the associate professor of the department of OTZV Savonov Yu.M., the head of the ZNTU museum Derkach N.V., the professors of the department of OTZV Bykovsky O.G. and Brykov M.M.

So, from now on, Popov V.S. always with the team, where he worked for a long time, led it, doing a lot of good, bright, eternal!
