The second stage of the All-Ukrainian charity competition «Aviator-2016» took place
Future Ukrainian aviators are one step closer to a trip to the Farnborough International Air Show in London, which is organized by the Boris Kolesnikov Charity Fund as part of the all-Ukrainian educational project «Aviator-2016».
On November 26, the second stage of «Aviator-2016» took place. It was attended by students from the National Aviation University and the National Technical University of Ukraine «Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» (Kyiv), Kharkiv National Aerospace University named after M.E. Zhukovsky «KHAI», Kirovohrad Flight Academy of NAU, Dnipropetrovsk National University named after Oles Honchar, Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, Slavyansky, Kryvorizky and Kremenchug Colleges of NAU, Zaporizhzhia Aviation College named after O. H. Ivchenko.
Sofiia Mudryk, director of the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Foundation: «This year, more than three thousand students of aviation specialties from all over Ukraine are taking part in Aviator. With a large number of participants, we raised the passing score in each stage and made the task more difficult. About a thousand participants passed the second stage of the project. They showed high results and are worthy of fighting for victory in »Aviator«. This struggle will not be easy, because at stake is a trip to one of the most prestigious events in the world – the Farnborough Aviation Forum.»
The second stage of «Aviator» was foreign language testing. For an hour, the participants of the competition performed the tasks of the expert council on technical English, which is the working language of the international aviation community.
Illia Karabaev, participant of the «Aviator-2016» competition: «I consider this stage one of the most important in the project. Knowledge of aviation English is necessary for all industry specialists – pilots, flight attendants, designers, dispatchers. Aviator participants should also know him well, since a trip to London involves close communication with representatives of global companies, peers, and future employers. This is our chance to make an impression and make useful acquaintances and contacts.»
Contestants are expected to: test their general knowledge of aviation and the history of the industry, solve a business case, defend a motivational presentation before the expert jury of the competition. In the summer of next year, one hundred winners of «Aviator-2016» will go to the Farnborough International Air Show in Great Britain.
We remind you that the Aviator project is the only educational competition for young designers and engineers in Ukraine. It is designed to support students of technical aviation specialties, to encourage them to professional growth. In the future, the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Fund plans to involve all Ukrainian technical universities and colleges with aviation technical specialties in the project.
