V International Conference «Progressive Delcam Information Technologies in Education and Scientific Research»

In the period from May 18 to 22, the 5th International Conference «Progressive Delcam Information Technologies in Education and Scientific Research» was held on the basis of Sumy State University. The main task of the conference was to discuss the prospects and results of activity of Delcam regional centers for the past year. For this purpose, the meetings were divided into two sections: «Information technologies in education. Development of Delcam educational centers in 2013-2015 academic years» and «Delcam information technologies in scientific research».

This year, 25 people from 10 universities of Ukraine took part in the conference. On behalf of ZNTU, the employees of the Main Educational Center «ZNTU-Delcam» took part in the organization and conduct of the conference. Klymenko V. Yu. and P.V. Glushko. The co-chairman of the conference and the head of the delegation from ZNTU was the rector of ZNTU prof. Belikov S.B.

Two reports from ZNTU were presented at the conference. The first report, «Machining Curvic Tooth End Couplings in the PowerMill System» in the Delcam Information Technology in Research section. In the second report «Report of the main educational center» ZNTU-Delcam «for 2013-2015 academic years» the activities and results of the project were highlighted. The second part of the report presented information on the implementation of the TEMPUS project «Modernization of advanced engineering education in Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan in accordance with technological challenges» 530244-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-SE-TEMPUS-JPCR. The participants of the TEMPUS project are four universities that are part of the project «Advanced Delcam technologies for universities of Ukraine», and the Delcam company itself participates in the project as a representative of production from Great Britain.

Conference participants were interested in learning about the opening of the 3D laboratory at ZNTU, its equipment and capabilities. In addition to the report, samples and models created in the 3D laboratory were presented. All conference participants were also presented with the monograph «Current Trends in Higher Engineering Education: European Experience and Recommendations for Ukraine».

At the end of the conference, the main decisions were made:

• to consider the work of Delcam educational centers in the 2013-2015 academic years as satisfactory;
• conduct the selection round of the Global CAM University Competition on the basis of Sumy State University;
• to hold the VI conference «Progressive Delcam information technologies in education and scientific research» on the basis of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University in May 2016.
