«Ukraine — forever, freedom — forever!»
On October 17, 2014, a theatrical patriotic concert dedicated to the unity of Ukraine was held at the Magar Theater. It should be noted that the first performance took place on August 24, 2014, on the Independence Day of Ukraine.
Our students also attended the performance with tickets purchased by the ZNTU student trade union.
The concert program included exciting and dynamic numbers. For example, a dance to the symbolic song «Stina» by the group «Okean Elzy» (which opened the main part of the concert), a cover of Michael Jackson’s song «Smooth criminal» in Ukrainian motifs, a theatrical performance with the flag of Ukraine to the rock version of our national anthem, as well as a number of popular and folk songs in their original arrangements and the composition «Freedom» from the rock opera «White Raven». An important aspect of the concert was the poetic words of Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, Bohdan-Ihor Antonych, Volodymyr Sosyura, Ihor Kalynets performed by the theater actors.
The main idea of the concert is the struggle of Ukrainians for freedom from the most ancient pre-Slavic times to the era of the Cossacks, from Shevchenko to the Maidan. As the director Viktor Popov said: «The wishes of the actors, musicians and the wishes of the theater administration coincided at the same time, and it is time to speak creatively about the events in Ukraine.»
I believe that at such a time the topic of unity of people in Ukraine is very important. In my opinion, only the language of art can now resolve aggression between people.
