Participation of ZNTU in TEMPUS projects

NUZP

In 2012-2013 academic year, Zaporizhzhia National Technical University worked on the implementation of 3 TEMPUS projects. The projects are financed by the European Union.

The work of ZNTU on the PROMENG project «Professionally oriented master’s programs in engineering in Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine» is nearing completion. In April 2013, monitoring of the project was conducted at ZNTU. The meetings involved teachers and students of ZNTU and other universities in Zaporizhzhia. The project monitoring was attended by the rector of ZNTU, Professor Belikov S.B., responsible for the implementation of TEMPUS projects, Professor Andrienko O.M., director of the national Tempus office in Ukraine, Shitikova S.P., and representative of the Berlin Technical University, Olena Eingorn. The commission highly appreciated the results of the project implementation: coordination of curricula with foreign partners, opening of a data reception/transmission laboratory at the Department of Computer Networks and Systems, equipment of a computer class at the Department of Software. The National Tempus Office in Ukraine awarded the TEMPUS project manager, Andrienko O.M., with an honorary diploma for initiative, creative search, and promotion of international cooperation. The final conference on the project is planned to be held in September 2013 at the Bauman Higher Technical School in Moscow.

In October 2012, ZNTU received two new grants for participation in TEMPUS projects: «Industrial Cooperation and Creative Engineering Education Based on Distance Engineering and Virtual Tools» (iCo-op) and «Modernization of Higher Engineering Education in Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan in Accordance with Technological Challenges» (ENGITEC). The Department of Software Tools and the ENGITEC project are involved in the implementation of the iCo-op project – the Department of Metal Cutting Machine Tools and Tools. The projects are designed for three years. Work on the projects began on October 15.

The main goal of the project «Industrial Cooperation and Creative Engineering Education Based on Distance Engineering and Virtual Tools» (iCo-op) – to strengthen university-enterprise partnerships in Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine by modernizing engineering education based on distance engineering and virtual tools, as well as modern methods of vocational education at enterprises. The total grant amount for this project is over 1 million Euros.

Specific objectives of the iCo-op project: development of a methodology for determining and monitoring the demand for knowledge and experience in industry; development of training programs that include transversal technologies and the use of distance laboratories, knowledge of virtual tools; building mutually beneficial partnerships between academic institutions and enterprises by offering internship programs and modern industry training programs.

The kick-off meeting for the iCo-op project was attended by the project coordinator from ZNTU, Andrienko O.M., Assistant to the Rector for International Cooperation. The meeting took place at the Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany) in December 2012. At the kick-off meeting, a presentation of ZNTU was made and the project implementation plan was discussed.

In June 2013, the second meeting of partners under the iCo-op project took place. The meeting was held in Kharkiv at the NTU «KhPI». ZNTU was represented by Professor Andrienko O.M. and Prytula A.V., professor of the Department of Software.

During the second meeting, all partners reported on the activities carried out in the first half of 2013. The installation of remote laboratories in the universities participating in the project was discussed and the tasks for the second half of 2013 were considered. The results of the internship of university teachers in the training «Best EU practices», which was held at the Technical University of Brasov, Romania, were also discussed. From ZNTU, the training was attended by associate professors of the Department of Software Tabunshchyk G.V. and Parkhomenko A.V.

In total, in 2007-2012, ZNTU took part in the implementation of 5 projects of the «Tempus» program, as a result of which teachers, staff and students had the opportunity to visit universities in Belgium, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Spain, undergo internships or study at foreign universities at the expense of the project. A significant result of participation in the projects was the receipt by ZNTU of computer equipment, office equipment, licensed programs and literature worth almost 125 thousand euros.
