Participation of students and teachers of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University in the events of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Germany

In early July 2022, with the support of the ERASMUS+, DAAD, and German Federal Ministry of Education and Science, several events were held at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts aimed at developing cooperation in science and education between universities in Germany, Ukraine, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, etc.

On July 1-2, 2022, the 13th International Research Conference (IRC) started, in which 136 participants from 18 countries of the world participated with 67 reports. Two reports were presented from Zaporizhia Polytechnic University:

– Research of the robotic platform iRobot Create 2 (Daryna Moshinets (student of the KST-511m group), Maria Tyagunova (associate professor of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks), Halyna Kyrychek (associate professor of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks);

– Content management system for remote laboratory development (Olena Tereshchenko (student of the KST-211m group), Oleksandr Sokolyansky (postgraduate student of the Department of Software), Anzhelika Parkhomenko (associate professor of the Department of Software)).

According to the results of the conference jury, Daryna Moshinets received an award in nomination Best Poster and was awarded a Certificate and a gift.

On July 3-6, 2022, an international Summer School for teachers was held with the support of the ERASMUS+KA1 projectWORK4CE “Cross-domain competences for healthy and safe work in the 21st century” (619034-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP), in which Anzhelika Parkhomenko (Associate Professor of the Department of Software), Iryna Zelenyova (Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks), Halyna Tabunshchyk (Professor of the Department of Software) and Tetyana Kolpakova (Associate Professor of the Department of Software) participated from Zaporizhia Polytechnic. The theme of the Summer School school for teachers was “Problem and Challenge-Based Learning for Training Basic Skills in a Project Environment”. In particular, the following issues were considered:

– the use of problem and challenge-based learning for didactic purposes;

– how to plan, prepare and conduct flexible cross-border projects with industry involvement for educational purposes;

– how to select a suitable project case and prepare for further project work;

– how to build balanced student teams for better training of soft skills;

– how to work with Moodle as an e-learning environment;

– how to apply outcome-based assessment of learning activities.

In parallel with the Summer School for Teachers, on July 4-8, 2022, with the support of the ViMaCs (Virtual Master Cooperation Data Science) project, funded by the DAAD and aimed at creating a virtual training and laboratory infrastructure for digital learning and a portfolio of modules in the field of Data Science, the Summer School on “Advanced Perspectives in Data Science” for students was held.

Students of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts participated in the school, National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, Western Ukrainian National University (Ternopil), Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and National University “Lviv Polytechnic”. From Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, students studied and worked in teams: Daryna Moshinets (KNT-511m), Olena Tereshchenko (KNT-211m), Hanna Shylo (RT-619), postgraduate students of the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Means Pavlo Anikin and Olga Kokhan.

During the Summer School for Master’s students, the following topics were considered: Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis; Business Analytics and Decision Making; Data Collection and Processing; Cloud Data Processing Systems; Machine Learning Operations. Lectures were given to students by an international team of teachers, in particular from Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic: Serhiy Subbotin (Head of of the Department of Software), Tetyana Kolpakova (Associate Professor of the Department of Software), Natalia Mironova (Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Tools). Students had the opportunity to apply their knowledge by solving a case provided by the Blacktron.AI company, and at the end of the week the results of the teams’ work were presented to the company’s representatives.

On July 6, 2022, in a hybrid format, a meeting of representatives of the consortium of the international educational project ERASMUS+KA1 WORK4CE “Cross-domain competences for healthy and safe work in the 21st century” (619034-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) was held. Project coordinator Galyna Tabunshchyk spoke about current tasks and challenges of the project, including the preparation of an interim report for the European Commission, equipment procurement, pilot training and the need to intensify the work of project teams.

Fruitful cooperation between students and teachers of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University with European partners creates a basis for further improvement of the educational process and development of scientific research.
