«Science Week-2018»: Section «Local Studies»
On April 18, 2018, the annual scientific and practical conference of the section «Local Studies» was held at Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, which was held within the framework of the all-university «Science Week-2018». Head of the section – prof. M.V. Dedkov, secretary of the section – student group GF-217 E.V. Kovalenko.
The work of the section was attended by 1st-2nd year students of the specialty «International Economic Relations» M.I. Tkachenko (GF-216), A.R. Korkishko (GF-216), L.O. Tverdokhlib (GF-217), A.M. Moskalyova (GF-217), E.V. Kovalenko (GF-217), V.G. Gavrylenko (GF-217) and others, lecturers of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training, Prof. Dyedkov M.V. and asst. Mozulenko D.I.
The work of the section was held at a high scientific and theoretical level and with great interest from the student youth.
Participation in the conference gave me an amazing experience, for me it was a very unusual and interesting format, the participants’ reports allowed me to look at certain problems from a completely different perspective. The conference participants showed great interest, listened attentively and asked interesting questions. The conference was informative, covered many debatable issues of the history and present of the countries of the world. The scientific reports raised topical issues related to British-Ukrainian relations in 2014-2018, the advantages and disadvantages of the financial sector of the Netherlands, the main problems of the migration policy of Germany and the EU, etc. The selected topics of the conferences became a fruitful basis for the exchange of views on the above-mentioned issues. This year’s conference is thought-provoking and inspires further scientific exploration and ideas. The activity, organization, interest, and oratorical honesty of the conference participants testify to its necessity, usefulness, and, of course, relevance.
I also cannot fail to note that the conference was perfectly organized and prepared. The cozy atmosphere, the interior of the auditorium, the presence of multimedia facilities – all this raised the mood, encouraged fruitful and creative work. The conference participants were given the opportunity to evaluate the speeches of their colleagues according to five main criteria: novelty and relevance of the material, scientific approach, oratory skills, availability and informativeness of the multimedia presentation, and the ability to correctly and clearly answer the questions posed. The students who received the highest number of points were awarded prizes, which became a motivation for further participation in similar events.
In my opinion, participation in the conference – is a unique opportunity to meet and communicate with a large number of smart and creative people and gain new knowledge. Thank you very much for the opportunity to participate in such an interesting conference, during which I was able to overcome my fear of public speaking and learn a lot of new and useful information. Scientific conferences are an invaluable experience, especially for young scientists.
