Such beautiful people
«And in life, as in a minefield,
I asked in this century
at least that store minimum:
— People, be mutually polite! —
and if it were my will,
I would write everywhere in italics:
— There is so much grief in the world,
people, be mutually beautiful!»

On September 9, 2014, the closing of the 16th film festival «Zaporizhzhia Cinerama» took place, which was held in the Dovzhenko Concert Hall. The film of the day was the film by the young and very talented director Dmytro Moiseyev «Such Beautiful People», free invitations to watch which our students received thanks to the trade union committee of ZNTU students. I happened to find out about the film and the filming at a press conference before the pre-premiere screening.
The film was shot for more than two years in different cities of Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk, Feodosia, Genichesk, Kyiv. The atmosphere of different cities, the complex fates of the main characters, their emotions – all this creates the illusion of proximity to what is happening on the screen. Or maybe not an illusion?
Mr. Dmytro emphasized before the screening that the film is about love and goodness. And indeed – the film is full of love for one’s neighbor, care and excitement for someone who is not indifferent. This is not just a story of two lovers, but the real life of people trying to escape from the past; trying to become better, fighting with themselves. Because it is so incomprehensible to want happiness, but fate decides otherwise: sometimes one mistake can break a person so much that he will not respect himself, will be afraid of his pseudo-insignificance.
Another aspect that makes the film artistically rich is that it was shot on real film, not digital cameras. Incredibly beautiful landscapes, touching and slightly naive views – all this is the result of the work of talented people of Art. The works are not for commercial gain, but so that people can watch a good and truly high-quality film. To watch and, perhaps, fix something in their lives.
It should be said that the state supported the young artist and this film was fully financed in the amount of 6 million UAH. Although this is the minimum budget for a full-length film, debuts are always financed in this amount.
From an interview with Dmytro Moiseyev: «I shoot the way I feel. The main feeling here is the belief that everything is not in vain».
Why is it worth watching the film, and why are beautiful people? Firstly, it is a 100% highly spiritual product. Secondly, they are beautiful because they have kind and bright souls, despite everything that happened to them. I recommend watching it.
