Modern equipment for teaching students
The third year of the Tempus project «Modernization of advanced engineering education in Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan in accordance with technological challenges» began with a pleasant acquisition 530244-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-SE-TEMPUS-JPCR. The Woodpecker CAMARO CP-1208 milling and engraving machine appeared at the Metal Cutting Machines and Tools department, which was purchased as part of the program to create a modern laboratory according to the Tempus project plan. Currently, the laboratory has at its disposal a CAMARO CP-1208 milling machine, a Roland MDX-20 milling machine, a MicroScribe G2X measuring arm, an Ultimaker 2 MakerPi edition 3D printer, modern computer equipment, as well as licensed software from leading CAD/CAM system developers Delcam, SolidWorks and ASCON.
The purchased machine is designed for processing materials: foam; various plastics, organic glass, acrylic, PVC; wood, plywood, MDF, fiberboard, chipboard; metals: brass, aluminum, magnesium, etc., surface engraving on steel is possible. Can be used for various industries and mold making, dies and molds, dashboards, control panels, marking, rapid prototyping, milling of 3D letters, embossing, plaques, logos, emblems, etc.
The machine has a large processing area of 1200x800x120 mm, a spindle with a power of 1.5 kW and a rotation frequency of up to 24,000 rpm, a processing accuracy of 0.02 mm and can use a wide range of cutters.
The machine was supplied with a post-processor for outputting control programs (CP) from the ArtCAM system. The students of the department developed a post-processor for outputting CP from the PowerMILL software.
The presence of this equipment will improve the quality of knowledge acquired by students on subjects related to mechanical processing and development of KP, and to consolidate the acquired knowledge in practice, as well as to acquire practical skills of KP output and processing of details on CNC machines.
