ZNTU students took part in the EBEC engineering competition in the Czech Republic
Student years are one of the best in life. Young people are always full of energy and new ideas. Students of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University had the opportunity to try their hand, as well as to reveal their potential. Yes, our students (Artem Babakin, Svitlana Levchenko, Roman Savilov and Oleksiy Bezsmertny) passed the local stage of EBEC Zaporizhzhia, then won the national stage of EBEC Ukraine in Kyiv. After that, they took part in the final stage of the competition, which took place in the city of Brno (Czech Republic). 120 students from all over Europe went to this city. The students did everything to cope with the tasks that were given by the partner companies.
The competition lasted 7 days, 4 of which were dedicated to work on tasks, the rest of the time the boys got to know the cultural features of the participating countries and rested.
Our team participated in the Team Design category – this is a category in which the team needs to design and create a working model based on the task from the provided materials. During the 4 days, the teams were given 2 tasks.
The first task was to create a car capable of lifting 3 boxes from a shelf, moving them to another shelf, while passing through an obstacle course, an intricate trajectory. Participants were given two days to complete the task. The task was proposed by the partner of the event – Skoda Auto.
In the second task, participants were presented with two 1:1 scale car roofs and two cars of different sizes. It was necessary to design and calculate the mount for the smart car sensor. The design had to withstand the following parameters: a maximum speed of 160 km / h, a load in three axes of 1.5 * g. It was necessary to assemble a structure on which a sensor weighing 15 kg was installed with the possibility of height adjustment and universal mounting for different roofs. Then, in the Auto desk Fusion 360 environment, build this model in 3D, calculate all the parameters and test the structure for its strength according to the parameters.
This task was sponsored by Valeo. And for the successful completion of the task, the teams were provided with 3D printers from the Y Soft company, so that the participants could create the details necessary to complete the task.
At the end of the time, each of the teams presented their projects to rival teams, as well as to a competent jury.
For 7 days, the boys honed their engineering skills in practice, talked with representatives of employing companies and had a great time with engineering students from all over Europe.
