Sport for the masses, and mass sport for the hostels!
A sports ground is a kind of permanent attribute of every high-rise building. What doesn’t happen on those platforms; here you will find sports exercises and yard competitions and spiritual gatherings with singing to the guitar. Don’t you think that everything I listed strongly resembles the life of an average student? And where do students live? – That’s right, in the dormitories. Unfortunately, there was still no such playground near ZNTU dormitories. Fortunately, everything is much better now, because first a sports ground was opened in dormitory #2, and then, on November 29, a similar playground was solemnly opened in dormitory #4. This became possible thanks to the work of the deputy of the regional council, the rector of ZNTU Serhii Borisovich Belikov.
Unfortunately, the weather on November 29 turned out to be extremely unpleasant: the rain that poured throughout the day turned into ice underfoot. Therefore, the red ribbon was cut as soon as possible, and the solemn part ended, and the guests headed to the sports hall. The singer started the celebration with the song «Supermassive Black Hole» by the group «Muse». After that, the presenter announced that the following were present at the event: deputy of the regional council, rector of ZNTU S.B. Belikov; vice-rectors of ZNTU: V.V. Naumyk, S.T. Yarymbash, M.V. Chechel; head of the students’ trade union committee A.V. Ivanchenko and the director of the campus V.M. Club.
— In a hostel, it should be so that the student sometimes has the desire to go out on a date and always return home! — With these words, Serhii Borisovych Belikov summed up his speech, during which he noted the excellent condition of the dormitory and, in particular, the sports hall, recalling how it all looked many years ago. Also spoke: head of the students trade union committee Andriy Ivanchenko and campus director Vadym Dubyna. During the speeches, the high level of organization of the holiday and the work of the new head of the student council of the dormitory Andriy Chernyavskyi were noted.
After the performances, distinguished guests left, and the celebration continued. Dancers performed in front of the audience, winners in the nominations for the best female and male rooms were awarded. They became 523 and 512 rooms, respectively. And finally, a competition was held among the athletes of the dormitory for the largest number of pull-ups and push-ups from the bars. The winner in pull-ups was Yurii Teslytskyi with a result of 21 times. Yurii Teslytskyi and Yevhen Sobko shared the first place in the balance beam exercise — both did 40 push-ups. All winners received diplomas and gifts from the trade union committee of ZNTU students — free subscriptions to the dormitory sports hall and free internet for one month.
It is good that over time, life in the dormitories is getting better and better, conditions are improving, new opportunities for spending free time and leisure time are appearing. We hope the new venues will be a great addition to these improvements!
