Cooperation with the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany

From October 8 to 12, Zaporizhzhia National University met with a delegation from the Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany). The main purpose of the visit was to complete the process of signing an inter-institutional agreement between ZNTU and the Technical University of Ilmenau for the implementation of the individual mobility program for the 2017-2019 academic year.

During the official meeting, the rector of ZNTU, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. S.B. Belikov noted the importance of individual mobility programs for the internationalization of the university, because they provide an opportunity to gain experience in studying and teaching at universities in Europe. In addition, for ZNTU students who do not have the opportunity to go abroad, this program allows them to attend lectures by German professors within the walls of their home university.

ZNTU has been fruitfully working with the Department of Information Communication Technologies of the Ilmenau University of Technology since 2012, starting with the projects Tempus ICo-op and Desire, during the implementation of which the Department of Software Tools received a remote GOLDi laboratory, which is actively used in the training of bachelors and masters in specialties 121 «Software Engineering» and 122 «Computer Science».

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Dieter Wuttke, together with postgraduate students Tobias Fath and Felix Seidel, updated the software and hardware of the GOLDi laboratory located at ZNTU, and held classes with students and teachers on the updated capabilities of the laboratory.

Associate Professor of the Department of Software A.V. Parkhomenko and Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Apparatus M.O. Polyakov made presentations on the current state and prospects of cooperation between ZNTU and the Ilmenau Technical University.

The seminars on the use of the remote laboratory were also attended by a delegation from the Donbass Machine-Building Academy (Kramatorsk), headed by the Head of the Department of Computer Information Technologies, Prof. O. Tarasov, who were partners of ZNTU in the implementation of the project Desire.

Since the individual mobility program allows students to study for a semester at the Ilmenau University of Technology and teachers to gain experience in teaching in English, Dr. Tech., Prof. D. Wuttke from the Department of Software G.V. Tabunshchyk and the leading specialist of the Department of International Activities and Work with Foreign Students L.M. Duyko conducted interviews with teachers and students of the departments of software, computer systems and networks, electrical and electronic devices, and applied mathematics.

The visit program also included a visit to the university museum and departments, a visit to DniproHES, Khortytsia Island, the Boguslaev Museum of Technology, the Phaeton Museum of Retro Cars, and the Weapons Museum.
