School of Counselor Skills 2013

Every year, all students who want to go to the sea in the summer and gain invaluable experience working with children take part in the "School of Counselor Skills", which was traditionally held on the initiative and organization of the student trade union and the Center for Employment Assistance for Students and Graduates of ZNTU. Classes here are held not in the form of lectures, but in a training mode. Students play the games that they will then present to children, study the regulatory framework that every employee of children’s health camps should know, and analyze various critical situations that can happen to a child. This year, ZNTU students even became television stars (the episode about the "School of Counselors" was shown in the news on the ICTV channel).

Classes in each group (there were four of them this year) lasted two weeks. 123 people signed up for the course this year, 97 started classes, and 58 people «survived» the exam. The exam was a similar procedure for each student: they came, took out a ticket with a question, prepared and answered the employees of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Youth Labor Center (who are the annual organizers of the School) and received a counselor’s certificate. There was only one exception from the academic exam – the students were observed by the camp directors, who found valuable personnel for their organization on the same day.
