School of Trade Union Activism of ZNTU 2017

Traditionally, the School of Trade Union Activism of ZNTU is held at the end of August. The goal of the SHPA is to improve the work of trade union activists through various trainings, contests, quests, games and competitions. According to the rules of the SHPA, a team of six people from each faculty participates. Each team must have its own name, motto, uniform and wall.

This year, from August 21 to 23, in the Health Complex «Mayak», located in the village of Vilnoandriyevka, the fourth Trade Union School was held, where activists of the trade union committee of ZNTU students improved their trade union work skills, received a lot of positive emotions and new acquaintances.

There were 12 teams in total, among which the team of the Faculty of Law and the team of the Press Service of the Trade Union Committee of ZNTU students participated for the first time at the trade union school.

On the first day of the SHPA, the «Business Card» competition was held, where each team had to present itself in an original way, for which 8 minutes were allocated. Then there was a captains’ competition (improvisation). Then, after dinner, the «Video Business Card» competition was held. The theme for everyone was the same «How I Met My Dean». The genres for each team were determined by drawing lots and turned out to be quite interesting. The participants had to work hard and rack their brains over the plot of their mini-film. Almost all teams coped with this task, and the judges had a hard time choosing the winner of this competition. After a busy day, the participants were able to relax and dance at the disco, but most preferred soulful gatherings by the fire and singing along to the guitar.

The second day turned out to be no less eventful. Despite the rainy weather, the morning began with a cheerful workout. After breakfast, the team members took part in sports competitions in streetball, volleyball and table tennis. Later, the students had the opportunity to spend their leisure time playing various educational board games. After lunch, the SHPA participants took part in trainings. The training in public speaking was conducted by Mariia Chernyaeva. The training in team building and leadership was led by Kyrylo Dyadya. Kyrylo Dyadya’s training in team building and leadership began with everyone being divided into teams and the task was to find the differences and patterns of each team member. Thus, everyone was able to discover themselves, their own characteristics and get to know the team. Moreover, by conducting the training in a game format, everyone could freely offer their ideas, share their thoughts and ideas. Kyrylo Dyadya taught us to understand the structure of the team, identified the types of people in it and the main problems of conflicts.

No less interesting and informative was Mariia Chernyaeva’s training in public speaking. The art of facial expressions and gestures, the correct pace of speech and timbre of voice to attract the listener’s attention, secret words and techniques – all these are important components of any profession, and the participants of the School of profaktiv learned all this.

When evening came, intensive rehearsals were going on everywhere, because in the evening one of the most dynamic competitions of the ShPA was held – Dance Battle. The task of each team was to stage a dance and dance it themselves. The team started preparing the number at the end of July, but everyone was very nervous, because few people were professionally engaged in dancing. However, despite all the excitement, the dance battle went «with a bang». Each team had its own costumes, all of them were very charismatic and original. Each team’s dance was individual in its own way, with its own plot and even acting.

On the third day of the SHPA, the last competition «What? Where? When?» remained. In this competition, the team participants showed their awareness of the life of the ZNTU students’ union. This helped the participants to better familiarize themselves with the structure of the student union committee and the university, as well as the history of «Mashinka». After that, everyone was waiting for the most exciting event of the SHPA 2017 – the announcement of the results. Each participant received a certificate confirming participation in the School of Trade Union Activism of ZNTU 2017. The best teams in the nominations received diplomas and gifts from sponsors.

In addition to everything, I would like to say that the School of Trade Union Activism – is not only an excellent opportunity to improve your personal qualities and learn a lot about the work of the trade union committee, it is also a small life lasting three days, during which everyone unites and becomes a family. In any team, the key to success is understanding and mutual assistance, and it is at the School of Trade Union Activism that you understand this best. Despite the competition and the desire of each team to win, everyone remains friends. Inspired by the spirit of fun, playing guitars together by the fire and simply helping each other in everyday situations, the School participants have become more than just colleagues – they have become one family!
