What do we know about contraception?
Why do most young people not use preventive measures to protect themselves from infections and unwanted pregnancy? The main reason is that it seems to her that all the trouble is happening to someone else. Believe me, you can be one of these others. In addition, often young people simply do not have the necessary knowledge about contraceptives.
On this occasion, on October 31, 2017, a lecture by Tobi magazine was held in the Student Self-Government Center of dormitory No. 4 of ZNTU. It was conducted by an experienced gynecologist – Tetyana Oleksandrivna Tsaruk.
It is known that about 14 million teenage girls become pregnant per year. 60% of them go for an abortion. Up to 4 million abortions are performed in Ukraine per year. Over the past 10 years, the number of unwanted pregnancies has increased several times.
Today there are many contraceptives. The most famous of them is condoms. They protect 98% from pregnancy, and 100% from sexually transmitted diseases. In second place are spermicides: 98-95% safe, but worse in terms of infections. Hormonal pills are in third place. Young people most often use interrupted sexual intercourse. This method is very unreliable, although it is free.
The gynecologist noted that there are FREE consultations of a gynecologist, venereologist, and psychologist at the «Youth-Friendly Clinic», located at 72 Soborny Ave.
This lecture was very useful, most students thought about whether they are selfless enough to give up their plans and dreams for the sake of a child who was born «accidentally».
