Results of the guest online lecture «Features of psychological work with the civilian population after captivity»

On November 17, 2023, the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University organized and held a guest online lecture on the topic «Features of psychological work with the civilian population after captivity».

The guest lecturer – Kateryna Rakytyanska, crisis psychologist of the Center for Assistance to the Rescued, Gestalt therapist, family, group, art psychotherapist, graduate of the Department of Psychology of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) – told the participants about the peculiarities of the psychological state of a person who was temporarily deprived of autonomy and the ability to control his life; somatic, psychological, spiritual, social consequences of torture; about the specifics of the work of a crisis psychologist in working with the civilian population after captivity; shared her own experience and answered numerous questions from the participants.

The topic of the lecture aroused great professional and personal interest among those present, among whom were not only master’s and bachelor’s degree students of our university, employees of the Department of Psychology and the Dean’s Office (Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Taisiya Gayvoronska, Deputy Dean Olena Balukhtina, Acting Head of the Department Vladyslav Koval, Professor Margarita Dergach, Associate Professor Tetyana Borodulkina, Lecturer Anastasiia Garmash), but also students of other specialties of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, master’s degree students-psychologists of the Zaporizhzhia National University, the head and employees of the Department of Psychological Support of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs; colleagues from the KZVO «Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education»; representatives of various charitable organizations and social and psychological services (Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro), including psychologists and social workers of the charitable foundation «Caritas Zaporizhzhia», charitable foundation «Right to Protection», NGO «Center for Assistance to the Rescued», etc.

The online lecture was attended by more than 130 guests from different parts of Ukraine (Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv, Kryvyi Rih, Marhanets, Nikopol, Mukachevo, Vinnytsia, etc.), as well as those who are temporarily abroad (Lodz, Mlawa (Poland).

The guest lecture was held as part of the study of the elective academic discipline «Military Psychology» (OP 053 Psychology) by first-year master’s degree students-psychologists, the lecturer was the acting head of the Department of Psychology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Vladislav Koval.

Within a month, each registered guest will receive an electronic certificate of lecture participant from the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
