The first 3D printer at ZNTU
The second year of the Tempus project «Modernization of Higher Engineering Education in Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan in accordance with technological challenges» 530244-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-SE-TEMPUS-JPCR is coming to an end. During the project, the university’s teachers adopted the experience of European colleagues, got acquainted with the material and technical equipment and methodological materials. The project program provides for the creation of a modern laboratory in accordance with the needs of the specialty participating in the project. The basic department of the project is the Department of Metal Cutting Machine Tools, which closely cooperates with the leaders of software Delcam Ltd, Ascon and SolidWorks. In order to improve the training of students in the direction of manufacturing parts, it was decided to purchase a 3D printer, which is a modern means of materializing models. The printer has been successfully purchased and commissioning work is already underway, and the first printed models are already available.
The 3D printer has a fairly large printing area (LxWxH = 220x 220×320 mm) and can use the following types of plastic: PLA, PHA, ABS, PLA (wire diameter 1.75mm), nozzle diameter 0.4 mm (replaceable nozzle 0.2 mm included), layer thickness 0.1-0.4 mm, print speed up to 250 mm/s, positioning accuracy XY axis 0.0128 mm, Z axis 0.00125 mm, connection – USB, SD Card, print formats STL, GCode, obj, dae , amf.
