Education is a fulcrum for the future of the Zaporizhzhia region!
On August 21, the August pedagogical conference «Fulcrum: Education. Education of the Zaporizhzhia region in reality today and in the future tomorrow» was held in Zaporizhzhia. Educators, representatives of the authorities, youth organizations and public partners took part in the discussion about safety, quality of education, child development and training of specialists who will remain in the Zaporizhzhia region.
For the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, participation in the conference was an opportunity to show what modern interaction between school and university can be. The university was represented by the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and issues of university development prospects Ruslan Kulikovsky.
At a separate location, our representatives — director of the National Scientific Center «Zaporizhzhia Regional Center of Polytechnic Education» Tetyana Solovyova, director of the Youth University Olena Nazarova, deputy executive secretary of the Admissions Committee Harry Moroz, deputy dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Technologies Serhiy Leoshchenko, senior lecturer of the Department of Machine Parts and Lifting and Transport Mechanisms Dmytro Kozak — demonstrated interesting engineering solutions and modern developments.
They presented the university’s capabilities, which help interest schoolchildren in technical sciences and show the practical side of engineering professions — they talked about the activities of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» and the Educational and Scientific Center for Experiments «Quantum».
New opportunities for cooperation between schools and the university were presented. After all, the professional future of a young person begins long before admission: with the first experiment, an interesting question, an attempt to create something on their own. That is why it is important to build a living connection between the teacher, the student and the university community.
Today, the Zaporizhzhia region continues to develop the education system even in wartime. One of the key tasks remains the creation of conditions under which young people will see the prospect of quality education and professional development in Zaporizhzhia. Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic is part of this future – together with schools, we develop an ecosystem of partnership, create new educational opportunities, open the world of engineering to schoolchildren through STEM initiatives, and create conditions for a conscious choice of their future profession. Because the future of Zaporizhzhia begins with education!
During the conference, state awards were presented to representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic:
– Vasyl Glushko — Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering — was awarded the Order of Merit, 1st degree. This state award was awarded to him by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 416/2020 for his significant contribution to the development of national education, training of qualified specialists, many years of fruitful pedagogical activity and high professionalism.
– Georgy Shapovalov — Head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic. By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 380/2026, he was awarded the honorary title «Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine» – for his significant personal contribution to the development of domestic science, strengthening the scientific and technical potential of Ukraine under martial law, many years of conscientious work and high professionalism.
