On April 12, on World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day, the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Foundation summed up the results of the educational project «Aviator 2017» and announced the names of the winners. The competition is designed to support students of technical specialties from all over Ukraine and encourage the best of them to travel to International specialized exhibitions in France and the UK.
The project started in October 2016 and lasted six months. 6,500 students from 44 higher educational institutions and colleges of Ukraine registered to participate in it. The contestants passed five stages, including tests on the theory and history of aviation, exact sciences and aviation English, as well as creative tasks from the jury members – developing a business plan and presenting their own investment project.
According to the organizers, all 250 contestants who reached the final are worthy of victory: they are creative, ambitious, have the makings of managers and businessmen, and strive to develop the domestic aviation industry. But the expert jury, headed by the legendary aircraft designer Dmytro Kiva, faced the difficult task of determining the hundred best students who will go to the Le Bourget International Air Show in France in June.
«The competition is famous not only for its unprecedented scale, but also for its contestants – winners of all-Ukrainian Olympiads, holders of international grants and scholarships, owners of various patents in aviation, young public figures. The final of the project once again proved – «Aviator» accumulates around itself the future aviation elite, which should present Ukraine on the international arena», – says Boris Kolesnikov, President of the charitable foundation.
During a solemn press conference at the National Aviation University, the winners of the «Aviator 2017» were named and awarded diplomas for a trip to Paris from the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Foundation.
«This year, the organizers allowed not only future aviators, but also students of polytechnic universities to participate in the competition. The experiment was a success and not only expanded the geography of the project, but also gave it novelty, attracting many talented students who are just discovering the great world of aviation. The jury members listened with enthusiasm to the speeches of the finalists. They presented such different, but at the same time interesting and promising projects, developments and achievements. The participants of the «Aviator» – this is a new generation of aviators and managers, whose names will stand on a par with the legendary Ukrainian designers, pilots, and cosmonauts», – emphasized Dmytro Kiva, chairman of the jury of the «Aviator 2017» project.
