Registration of subsidies for dormitory residents
On the initiative and direct organization of the trade union committee of ZNTU students, an event was held in dormitory No. 4 on February 5, 2013, which helped students living in the dormitory to register for housing subsidies. Students actively used this opportunity, because it is a great option to reduce the cost of living.
The documents for the subsidy were accepted by an employee of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Zaporizhzhia City Council in the Zhovtnevy district directly in the premises of Dormitory No. 4 (Student Self-Government Center).
The documents were assisted by the Deputy Director of the ZNTU Campus Vadym Keda, members of the Student Council of Dormitory No. 4 and the heads of student councils of other ZNTU dormitories.
The subsidy is a targeted non-cash assistance from the state to citizens of Ukraine to reimburse the costs of paying for housing and communal services (water, heat, gas supply, sewage, electricity, removal of household garbage and liquid sewage).
The subsidy is assigned if there is a difference between the amount of payment for housing and communal services within the limits of consumption norms, taking into account the benefits provided in accordance with current legislation and the amount of the mandatory percentage of payment determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. A resident must pay for housing and communal services no more than 15 percent of his average monthly income per month, otherwise – the state pays in the form of a subsidy.
Documents provided for the purpose of the subsidy: Completed application form; Declaration of income and property; Certificates of income for the previous six months; Certificate of family composition and housing and communal services tariffs.
The housing subsidy belongs to non-refundable state aid and does not affect the form of ownership of housing in any way. Its amount depends on the size of the scholarship and payment of communal services in the dormitory.

For example, students in dormitory No. 4 today pay for accommodation in the amount of 284.53 UAH per month. This amount can be significantly reduced by applying for a subsidy. Thus, depending on the income and property status of a student living in dormitory No. 4, the amount of the subsidy varies on average from 59 UAH per month for a state-funded student with a scholarship to 263 UAH per month for a contract student or a state-funded student without a scholarship.
If all students living in ZNTU dormitories apply for a subsidy in a timely manner – this will save our students 1.5 – 2 million UAH per year. This is the goal that the ZNTU Students’ Trade Union Committee has set for itself: to save students 1.5 – 2 million hryvnias per year.
All a student needs is a desire to save money and seek advice from the ZNTU Students’ Trade Union Committee, the student dormitory council, or the ZNTU campus.
Subsidies for students are very simple, especially when the university and the ZNTU Students’ Trade Union Committee support them.
