New horizons for IT students
Within the international project «Centers of excellence for young scientists» (CERES, reg. No. 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHES) of the «Tempus» program of the European Union and cooperation agreements, on February 28, 2017, a meeting of students of the 4th year of specialties 121 «Software engineering» and 122 took place at the department of software tools «Computer science and information technology» with representatives of the leading IT companies of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Representative of the company «Light IT» A. Ignashova talked about the requirements of the labor market for future IT specialists, the directions of the company’s work, opportunities for pre-diploma practice, graduation and further employment of students and graduates of the department of software tools of ZNTU at the enterprise. Students participating in the meeting received souvenirs from the company and offers for free training in courses on learning programming languages and website development technologies, which are in great demand on the labor market in Ukraine and abroad. This visit of the representative of «Light IT» is a continuation of the joint work of the department and the company and is a guarantee of employment for graduates of the specialties of the software department.
It is important to note that the demand for graduates of the Department of Software Tools of ZNTU is very high and is constantly growing both on a regional, national and global scale, and the supply of specialists on the labor market is insufficient and tends to decrease in the region due to internal and external migration processes. This determines the great interest of regional companies in the employment of students and graduates of the department of software tools of ZNTU.
Director of the Public Organization (PO) «ZNSO» Yu. Oliynyk (by the way, a former graduate of the Department of Software Tools) talked about interesting science-intensive projects that are being carried out together with Canadian partners and proposed for cooperation with ZNTU.
The proposal of the NGO «ZNSO» to hold a competition of student works and projects under the program «Smart City» («Smart City») together with ZNTU on the basis of the software department within the «Science Week» of ZNTU with the scientific and methodological support of the international project «Centers of excellence for young scientists» of the «Tempus» program of the European Union, implemented at ZNTU, turned out to be very interesting. Students of any IT and radio-electronic specialties can take part in the competition. Students participating in the competition will be awarded with valuable prizes and souvenirs from the organizers. To participate in the competition from 01.03.2017 to 05.04.2017, you need to submit an application on the «ZNSO» website http://smartcity.znso.org, where you need to describe an idea / project that will be related to the «Smart City» program. The selected ideas / projects must be defended by the authors at the «Science Week» of ZNTU in the period of May 17-22, 2017 as reports at the section of the software department. The solemn announcement of the results of the competition and the awarding of the winners will be held after the results of the competition.
