The Unfading Light of the Great Deed
What is courage? Or bravery? What is war? And what is – peace?
The actors of the Magar Theater answered these questions at the lesson of courage «The Unfading Light of the Great Deed», which took place on October 9.
The performance was dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Zaporizhzhia from the German-fascist invaders. The fate and tragedy of the people and each individual person, stories about the lives of soldiers, post-war songs and songs of the wartimes – all this absorbed the audience into the atmosphere of 1941-1945.
The song about lost childhood, performed by the vocal artist Svitlana Remzhina and little girls and boys, was impressive. This song was like a call for peace; peace, which was longed for so many years ago and is waiting for now.
Crippled destinies, mutilated lives, difficult paths – all this is not an obstacle for the strong in spirit! It is not an obstacle for the courageous!
The concert was attended not only by the younger generation, but also by war and labor veterans, participants in the resistance movement, and people who restored Zaporizhzhia after the war. Acting Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration Hryhoriy Viktorovych Samardak expressed gratitude to the defenders, as well as wishes for peace and unity in Ukraine.
After the concert, many of the spectators had tears in their eyes, because so many familiar stories had been seen and heard.
I am grateful to the Trade Union Committee of ZNTU students for the opportunity to attend the concert and once again remember my immortal great-grandfather, who went missing while crossing the Dnieper.
