Last week, the press service of the trade union committee of students of ZNTU, together with interested «Mashinkov» people, was able to attend one of the most exciting meetings. Although it is cold outside, our hearts were warmed by a real Paralympic fire. So, let’s talk in more detail.
On September 23, Zaporizhzhia Square was noisy. Dozens of people solemnly prepared to meet THEM, the pride of our country – Paralympians.
Still far from the port, sirens can be heard announcing the arrival. Finally, the bus by which the athletes arrived can be seen. The military band solemnly congratulates the winners, who appear one by one on the square. Ukrainian girls with a loaf of bread are the first to greet. After – representatives of the regional administration with flowers. Everyone has sincere smiles on their faces: some are happy because they have finally landed on their native land, others are happy to see their relatives, their champions here, in Zaporizhzhia.
I managed to personally communicate with the relatives of swimmer Viktoriia Savtsova. They are very happy with such a reception and are proud that 40% of our national team’s medals belong to Vica.
Track and field athlete Maryna Pomazan said that she is first of all grateful to Ukraine: her native support is a mega-charging «doping». When asked if she was happy that Ukraine became 3rd, Maryna answered that it was not third place, it was a complete victory. The girl wished all her compatriots good health and always achieve their goals.
Head of the Department of Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of ZODA Nataliia Fedorivna Vlasova shared her feelings and emotions.
– How do you like the results?
– Of course, we want more, but still, with our victories we proved that we are a strong nation. We cannot be satisfied, 10 athletes and 10 medals. This is necessary.
– What are your next steps in helping Paralympians?
– I would not like to reveal all the secrets, but the question of making a base for the training of Paralympians in Berdyansk has been raised. Also, the leadership of the region implements the order to pay the prize to the medalists.
Also, Nataliia Fedorivna said that on Monday at 12:30 in the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, a meeting will be held with the leadership of the region, where medals and a personal thank you from the governor of the region, Kostiantyn Ivanovich Bryl, will be presented.
We also want to note that the students of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University showed great interest in Friday’s meeting with the Paralympians and presented the largest and friendliest support group in the amount of 58 people!
