SME «Shield» took part in the exercises
On March 18, 2016, planned tactical and special exercises were held, organized by the coordination group of the Anti-Terrorist Center (ATC CG) under the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region at the facility of the municipal enterprise «Zaporizhzhia International Airport».
The purpose of the exercises — checking the state of readiness and practicing joint actions of all entities fighting terrorism at transport infrastructure facilities, conducting an anti-terrorist operation to stop the illegal actions of terrorists who took hostages.
The exercises involved forces and means of the ATC Group, employees of the Regional SBU Department, employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, units of the National Guard and police, border guards, representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, the city council and the airport.
The force phase of the exercises involved the destruction of conditional terrorists and the release of hostages by fighters of the «Alpha» special unit and the special forces battalion of the National Police.
According to the legend of the exercises, a group of «terrorists» seized the airport terminal together with the «hostages» and made various demands, including handing over the plane to hide. The role of conditional "hostages" at these exercises was played by guys from the youth special unit "SHIELD" led by the unit commander Devochkin V.F. In addition to the considerable dose of adrenaline received when the fighters of the SBU special unit "Alpha" liberated the airport terminal and the plane captured by the "terrorists", the "hostages" received practical knowledge of the rules of behavior in similar situations.
As a result of the exercises, not a single "hostage" was injured.
