Linguistic communication in the global space
The 15th Interuniversity Scientific Conference with international participation took place on November 5-7 at ZNTU with this name for the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. It was attended by students of various faculties and specialties studying in the first to fifth years of various Ukrainian higher education institutions, as well as master’s and postgraduate students, including from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland.
Among Zaporizhzhia universities, it is ZNTU for the fifteenth year in a row that, for the holiday of the Ukrainian language, a scientific forum of student youth on current problems of Ukrainian linguistics, rhetoric, terminology, and stylistics is being initiated.
This year’s conference was solemnly opened by the Rector of ZNTU – Chairman of Rectors of ZVO of Zaporizhzhia Region, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Belikov Serhiy Borisovych, emphasizing the priorities of modern higher education: scientific work of students, their communicative culture and skillful communication in the chosen profession in Ukrainian and international languages. Having greeted the participants of the conference in many European languages, Serhii Borisovych, by his own example, urged students to study the state and other languages in depth for successful professional communication, including in the field of science.
The curator and founder of the conference – Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training Onufriyenko Halyna Serhiyivna gave a thorough report on the Ukrainian language in the modern global space and communicative culture as a mandatory component of professionalism.
Journalist Gladiy Oksana Bohdanivna told about the history of the creation of the Zaporizhzhia TV show «Language as the Sea».
The plenary and three sectional meetings were interesting. The conference participants discussed the following topical issues over the course of three days: historical origins and theoretical foundations of language communication, business etiquette in the language culture of different countries of the world, traditions and peculiarities of Ukrainian language etiquette.
The conference impressed with its scale (over 80 reports), various forms of modern scientific communication (dialogue and polylogue, discussion and feedback, interview and review, generalization and photo report), useful recommendations, thematic book exhibitions prepared by the university library and teachers of the department, a bright and unique exhibition «Petrykivskyi magnificence of Nataliia Rybak», creative works first-year students of the «Design» specialty, beautifully decorated auditoriums for the conference, creative and noble atmosphere.
Most of the participants from ZNTU are students of the humanities faculty, as well as the faculties of construction, architecture and design, social sciences, economics and management.
In their feedback, the students noted that the best public presentations were: Elizaveta Kovalenko (GF-217), Gunel Safarova (YUF-217), Kavun Hanna (SN-316), Shcherbina Artem (IF-118), Polina Musiychenko (BAD-538), Mariia Pavlenko (GF-318), Denys Bilionok (IF-218), Cherep Tetyana (KHNNRA), Valerii Pylypenko (FEU-618), Oleksandra Kychak (ZNU), Olena Nazarenko (KNT-118), Stanislav Terletsky (KNT-138), graduate of ZDMU Belinskyi Bohdan, master’s student at ZNTU Bondarenko Yaroslava, graduate student of ZNU Dobrovolska Maryna.

During the conference, students actively and persistently learned: to convincingly and confidently present the chosen topic to a wide audience, make presentations, listen carefully to the scientific speeches of others, write down what is important for themselves and their profession, ask questions correctly, summarize what they heard in the speeches and read in the poster presentations, notice the nuances of the discussed problems, analyze their own speech and that of other speakers, and do not be afraid to speak. Students gained experience in civilized language communication, which is very important in every profession.
Participation in the conference helped to find new friends and interesting interlocutors, enriched with new knowledge, important experience and practical skills, inspired the desire to engage in scientific work, research language problems, master international languages, perfectly know Ukrainian, and constantly improve one’s speech.
The conference was organized at a high modern level, and we are grateful for the help provided to us in preparing the texts of reports and public speeches, presentations. For most, it was almost the first experience of participating in a scientific conference. And we are satisfied with it.
