Youth alternative
The non-governmental organization «Youth Alternative» aims to form a new generation of democratic leaders of Ukraine, to attract young people to participate in the political life of Ukraine by organizing internships in authorities, to form a new generation of politicians for an independent Ukraine, to promote the ideas and values of democracy in the youth environment, and to activate the public participation of young people in the political process.
And this year, from March 19 to 21, the project «Unity in diversity: overcoming stereotypes and conflicts, establishing dialogue between the youth of the East, South and West» was organized by the NGO «Youth Alternative» in the city of Ternopil.
Zaporizhzhia was also represented by a student of our university, Halyna Lukash – head of the social protection commission of the students’ trade union committee, who spoke in an interview about the purpose of the project, its format and the specifics of its implementation.
«The project in Ternopil is an incredibly useful experience for young people who take an active public position. This is the experience of uniting people from different regions of Ukraine and the destruction of stereotypes associated with accepting each other. The project was implemented in the format of trainings and a series of seminars on overcoming stereotypes, improving communication skills, distinguishing types of manipulation, acquiring skills in conflict resolution, project organization and management, features of government and democracy. But the project consisted not only of a huge flow of useful information, but also of incredibly interesting tours of the city, familiarization with its history. It’s all in one: positive impressions, important information and useful experience,» said Halyna Lukash.
Volunteers Brych Bohdan and Taras Herman, designer Oksana Bachynska, deputy mayor and bard Oleksandr Smyk, as well as project coordinator Ihor Protsyk participated in the organization and conduct of seminars and trainings.
«We were taught not to divide Ukraine even in broadcasting. That is, do not say Eastern or Western Ukraine, but East and West, North and South Ukraine. Can you hear the difference?» – Halyna shared.
In my opinion, projects such as the one described above are necessary at this stage of our country’s development. It is a bridge for connecting people, for finding like-minded people, increasing the level of interest of young people in the country’s political processes.
So don’t delay and join the youth leaders: http://www.ya.org.ua/
