Mobile IT laboratory for teaching schoolchildren programming and modern engineering
As part of the European Coding Week #codeEU in October, the «Mobile University» project team of the Department of Software Tools, consisting of Assoc. Prof. Myronova N.O., Asst. Prof. Kaminska Zh.K., SmartKids IT School teacher Denysenko Hanna, Nelasy Oleh and student volunteers: Zinenko Danylo, Kozlov Valerii, Oleksandr Berezhny, Vicheva Hanna, Klinkova Anastasiia, Sudakov Volodymyr, Snurnitsyn Bohdan, Tsimmerman Oleksiy, Kovalenko Vadym went to remote schools in Zaporizhzhia with the aim of introducing students to modern IT professions, conducting workshops on programming in Python, robotics with mBot and Arduino, and proving to children that programming is interesting now and promising in the future!
The team of the "Mobile University" warmly welcomed in Zaporizhzhia comprehensive schools No. 1, No. 55, No. 42, No. 75, which are located in different districts of the city. Many schoolchildren were very interested in the presentation about future IT professions, lively joined the discussion and discussion of the list of professions in the field of programming. During the discussion, gender issues were raised – girls in the IT field, representatives of the software department offered to try their hand – to take part in the Technovations Girls programming competition for girls! And all those who wish – in the school’s sports programming Olympiad movement.
Schoolchildren gladly participated in the proposed workshops on Python programming, mobile robots using Arduino, educational robots-constructors mbots. In the eyes of all students of grades 7,8,9,10, there were lights of interest, excitement, surprise and delight in various types of programming. The «Mobile Univer» team didn’t want to leave the schools, and the students, in turn, didn’t want to let them go.

The departure of the "Mobile University" team took place thanks to the joint project "Mobile IT laboratory for teaching students programming and modern engineering" of the Department of Software of the National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic" and the NGO "Ecosens", which became one of the winners of the competition of social initiatives "We – this city" of PJSC "Zaporizhstal".
