MK «Zaporizhstal» established 20 named scholarships for students of Zaporizhzhia universities
MK «Zaporizhstal», following the principles of social responsibility of the Metinvest Group, allocated funding for the establishment of 20 named scholarships to the best students of Zaporizhzhia educational institutions – Zaporizhzhia National University, Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, Zaporizhzhia State Engineering Academy.
The General Director of MK «Zaporizhstal» Rostyslav Shurma informed about the appointment of named scholarships to the best students during a planned meeting with students and rectors of Zaporizhzhia universities, which took place on January 27, 2015.
«Zaporizhstal» needs professional, ambitious specialists who are ready to develop and progress, to invest their intelligence and work in the development of Ukraine, the Zaporizhzhia region and our plant.
We systematically cooperate with Zaporizhzhia educational institutions, in 2014 alone, 266 graduate students were admitted to our plant to work in the main metallurgical professions,« said the general director of MC »Zaporizhstal« Rostislav Shurma.
Meetings of students with the management and leading specialists of MK »Zaporizhstal« are held on a regular basis – these are master classes of a qualitatively new level, where the best managers and specialists of MK »Zaporizhstal« give students new knowledge based on practical experience.
During the meeting, the students asked Rostyslav Shurma a number of questions about the situation in Ukrainian industry, the complexity of the work of metal enterprises in the conditions of the economic and political crisis, and further prospects for the development of the combine.
Answering the students’ questions, the general director of MK Zaporizhstal noted: »The results of the plant’s work in 2014 speak for themselves.
Despite all the problems and difficult economic conditions, we were able not only to increase production, but also to continue the ecological modernization of our production units: UAH 600 million. invested in a modern blast furnace No. 4 with an aspiration system, UAH 730 million. – in the new salt-acid pickling line in the cold rolling shop, the construction of gas cleaning equipment on sintering machines is underway. We believe in the future of Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia and our plant «Zaporizhstal».
Focusing on the youth, MK «Zaporizhstal» established personal scholarships for students with the aim of motivating young people to obtain high-quality higher education. Scholarships will be awarded to students of various specialties of three Zaporizhzhia universities (ZNTU, ZDIA, ZNU) and ZDIA metallurgical college, provided they study with a high average score (over 4.7) and active participation in the scientific and public life of the university. The size of the scholarship is UAH 700. for university students. Named scholarships are approved based on the results of each session by order, based on the minutes of the scholarship commission meeting of the Great Academic Council, which includes a representative of MK «Zaporizhstal». Scholars of MK «Zaporizhstal» have a priority right to employment at the plant. At the same time, as previously reported, the combine already pays the ten best students of ZMK ZDIA a nominal scholarship in the amount of UAH 500.
Every year, about 1,500 students of universities, colleges and vocational lyceums undergo familiarization, production and pre-diploma practice at the enterprise.
