Interregional cooperation of universities

Dear colleagues!

The current socio-political situation testified to the heterogeneity of Ukrainian society. The student environment, which was born already in an independent state and should unite around the ideology of high quality knowledge and patriotism, turned out to be heterogeneous. After all, such approaches are implemented throughout the civilized world. It is unfortunate, but political manipulations aimed at dividing society along regional lines are now being built on these problems. We must frankly admit that a significant fault for this state of affairs lies with higher education, and therefore with us, the heads of higher educational institutions. We actively engaged in well-founded issues of the integration of higher education into the world educational space, but at the same time we did not form a sufficiently civilized national educational space, which would be based on the principles of honesty in education, high quality of education, the ideology of Ukrainian statehood and equal access to higher education.

Currently, in the higher education system, there is practically no systematic work on cooperation between universities at the interregional level regarding the exchange of students, teachers, and scientists in the implementation of joint educational programs and scientific research programs. Interuniversity cultural and recreational projects are not implemented as an important factor in the national education of student youth.

In order to overcome crisis social problems and strengthen the role of higher education in the formation of Ukrainian society as a single integrity, the Union of rectors of higher educational institutions of Ukraine recommends taking urgent measures to strengthen interregional cooperation of universities. In particular, on the basis of mutual agreements:

• to introduce joint training programs for students, exchange of teachers for lectures and students for integrated training and practice at educational and industrial bases of universities;
• to practice conducting scientific research through the implementation of common scientific topics and the use of scientific installations and devices that are not available in another educational institution;
• to implement more widely the holding of interregional and interuniversity scientific and scientific-methodological conferences of teachers and student Olympiads, especially on problems of a socio-political nature;
• establish cooperation between universities in matters of cultural exchange of students and their recreation and leisure;
• organize joint student construction teams, archaeological and folklore expeditions, etc.

We are convinced that the higher school has a powerful potential for deepening the interregional cooperation of universities as an important means of preserving and strengthening Ukraine in all its national and cultural diversity.
